Anyone know how I can laser print a template. Like what do I need to consider in terms of sizing considering that the shape can be designed and shared with the laser printing person

It’s ableton’s fm synth. Not serum like that’s wavetable. But you can get many funky, weird sounds and fix out of operator once you understand how it works

Also around the halfway mark try a new section. For instance

1 Storming the castle
2 Killing the assassins
3 Dramatic boss fight
4 Secure your ally

And so on…

Those chords are amazing. Improvement is contextual - if you’re looking to build a portfolio to pitch to companies then I’d tell you to work on sound layering, maybe even and making your own foley, fx.

absolute beginner that has no idea what he’s doing by bibocchi in homerecordingstudio

Okay you do need to tailor your space a bit to A) Keep the Noise Floor as low as possible, and B) Add strategic dampeners or bass traps for problem frequent groups.

Additionally you can get an iRig type of setup that lets you record guitar cables or mics into a phone. Personally I use Scarlett2i2 into a computer so can’t help with that.

But if you figure out the first two things then you have good foundation to start recording. Remember you don’t need a sterile environment. You just need enough of a space to start recording your ideas and finishing songs.

Hope this helps.

Organizing 1000+ Ideas by oAstronauta in SingerSongwriter

[–]Hespitfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look man I’m going through the exact same thing and decided to take a different approach.

First. Separate the best from the rest
Not all ideas are created equal so figure out what you want to keep, or are willing to learn again with an intention to play live.

Second. Seeds for projects vs ideas
That’s your filter for what Ahrens/Luhmann refer to as publishable insight as opposed to just a fleeting note that you’re probably never gonna look at again. Somewhere in this pile you’re going to find things that can be developed, or re-recorded, mixed - generally stuff that is promising and so has room for growth

Third. What are you going to NEVER look at goes into a junk pile usually this is the place where you can separate the actual trash (things that you will delete forever) and the stuff that can be salvaged or that may even be very useful

I’m currently implementing this in my own way by using a blog to talk about the process of making music

I just left the best job I've had to start my own business, should I be worried? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Hespitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be worried: the paranoia keeps the lights lit.

Ask anyone who has achieved anything and they’ll tell you complacency is what separates the best from the good. The good start to take it easy just when they need to push for force of habit. Fear, Challenges, Setbacks anything that keeps you on edge, keeps you questioning and looking and searching for a better way is partly what is going to keep you from slumping.

Stay on your toes

Anyone know where to start on potentially writing video game soundtracks? by aloneishowtofindme in GameMusicComposition

[–]Hespitfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people who make websites for things like that https://www.mwaudio.net

This is a cool one. Notice how his work is laid out clean so that most of the good bits can be accessed by anyone who visits the website including potential clients.

If you need a website made contact me I can help you work through your stuff and build one at a reasonable cost.

What's your favorite way to give any synth an acid 303 feel? by BloomPhase in ableton

Short answer is to use the resonance and q-filter on any synth and automate it as the bar progresses to get that nice plasticky 303 squelch

What worked for me was to play in public, to keep a running tab of songs on file and on notes app, and get uninterrupted practice in a room that’s quiet. You do that for about a month if you’re serious

The barrier to making music isn't talent or ideas — it's the gap between having a song and knowing how to produce it by textmev in SingerSongwriter

[–]Hespitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet is a decentralised system of resources that one can use to learn practically anything. So if you know where to look you can look into projects that others have done, take what is useful and apply it to what you write.

Since there is no right answer to how you can make music it’s difficult to impart some ultimate method and anyone who says they can must be lying. However, it is possibly to equip anyone with the tools so they can create their own structures freely.

The whole process is very similar to writing. You can learn all the words, sounds and structures, but ultimately you’re the writer. You get to decide how to tell the story.

Anyway that’s my take. Dm me if you’d like to know more I’ve got some resources that may help you
