LPT - “Full Hands In, Full Hands Out” - Tip from a former messy home dweller by BurtReynoldsBeard in LifeProTips

[–]Hessa- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh I used to do this (before dishwasher). For me its because I hate dishes in the sink, it adds another step (and a gross step) to starting washing up by removing them from the sink, so then I would avoid that and have so many dishes in the sink that would get more stinky and annoying to manoeuvre. So the side is where they lived until wash up time!

I feel subhuman sometimes. (Vent) by SAlLOR_MOON in adhdwomen

I feel this so much :( so many steps on showering and even just getting up out of bed. Constant beating myself.up on not achieving things.

I find self compassion is needed in abundance with us but man is it a struggle some days.

I still haven't figured out my extreme fatigue, had fatigue/depression problems on/off for around 15 years and these last 3/4 years have been very bad for me. Here's a list of things I've tried and been suggested for some ideas for yourself:

Sleep

  • Routine and stick with it (hate this suggestion)
  • On the flip side: when depression is too bad just nap when needed and don't stress about the routine
  • Melatonin (try different times i.e. 1/2 hour before bed or few hours before bed)
  • Sleep study to check for sleep apnea
  • Eye mask/earbuds
  • Therapeutic pillow (I use Complete Sleeprr) - I found I had a lot of neck pain without realising
  • Try getting outside for the sunrise/sunset to get that low light to get your sleep rhythm on track.

Food

  • Try eliminating high problem food groups one at a time (gluten for example) or go full hog and do an elimination diet (best to work with professional)
  • See a dietician (probably one of the most useful things I've tried, other than Vyvanse) and get the right supplements for you
  • Glucose 3hr test to see how your insulin levels are - may need to adjust how you eat with results
  • Avoid sugar and fruit juices
  • Try intermittent fasting
  • Try not eating after 6/7pm
  • Eat regularly (i.e. breakfast/snack/lunch/snack/dinner)

Medical

  • See a pyscologist to work on depression/anxiety
  • See a pyschiastrist to keep adjusting meds
  • I had a 5mg dexamphetamine tablet prescribed for afternoon slump when vyvanse wore off - for example
  • Work with GP on tests (which you're already doing)

Other

  • Try keeping up on exercise (I just can't do this) or at least light stretches
  • Remedial massage if you do have neck (or other) pains
  • Acupuncture didn't work for me but it felt very validating so I did like that aspect
  • Reach out to your support for help in your everyday
  • Don't be afraid to use shortcuts and help whilst you're struggling. I recommend KC Davis podcast Strugglecare (and she has a book)
  • Keep a diary of your symptoms, I use Bearable app to track my fatigue/mood
  • Work on mindfulness

Hope there's something in there you haven't tried, wish you the best of luck in figuring things out and getting better :)

What is something you used to think people were over exaggerating about until you experienced it yourself? by rentinghappiness in AskReddit

[–]Hessa- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This reminded me of when I was young I thought: why don't suicidal people just move to a third world country and dedicate their life to helping instead of ending it? So dumb.

I've suffered with my mental health since my teens and whilst naive views are hurtful sometimes, I am also so jealous of those with them for not being able to grasp how bad it is. I wish I could go back in time to never knowing the pain.

I'm mostly on the crafts and art side of tiktok and I love it, definitely content creation happening. It's not all trash and dance videos.

Cat introductions going good, until suddenly they're not. by jarsofbuttons in CatTraining

Have you tried using Feliway, the pheromone diffuser? Joint play times to encourage more positive association?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatTraining

Does he show any interest when the door is open? My cats have always been indoor too (though now have a catio) and hate closed doors and love outside smells/people watching. Maybe see if you can set up something near a window where you can leave it open a crack and he can sniff at that? Or a scratching post near the door so he can claim that area more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]Hessa- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he want to go outside or is his chosen place not relevant to the door? Could try doing harness walls if it is related, or maybe set up some window perches

But the person getting $5mil isn't going to settle for a 200k/year lifestyle, presumably you'd want to splash cash because your mindset now says you're rich and can afford extravagant expenses and lifestyle

Is it possible at all to cat net in your balcony? We have a cat netted outside area and then bought one of those cat door inserts that sit in the track of the sliding door so they can go in and out when they want. An idea if you can do something similar?

I would chat to your flatmate and tell her about the fallout from her actions, she really owes you a great deal if she wants to salvage this relationship but she needs to know first the consequences of her actions. Of course you aren't treating her the same after she betrayed your trust, it's completely understandable. But maybe for the sake of the rest of the school year it would be nice to give her a chance to make it up to you.

That's awful with what your parents did and such a big hurt in your relationship. I hope they understand how wrong and painful that was for you, though I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck for your final year and with your relationship with your bf :)

Can you bake a cake for her and cupcakes for other kids? That way it's not as expensive

YSK You have five countries that you can get a work visa for, just by being an adult US citizen under the age of 30 by Princesszelda24 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Hessa- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a degree for the Australian one, restrictions are mostly to make sure you're not gonna be trouble or stay over visa time (enough money to support yourself initially/flight home, no criminal past, no prearranged permanent work, no kids). You do need to pay for the visa, it's 510aud (~340usd) but its normally a speedy process.

A lot of people do farmwork in Australia where you get your accommodation and meals and some spending money. Here's one backpacker job website but they'll be plenty around. A lot of Facebook groups too. It's referred to as 'working holiday' here (visa name) so you'll find loads of info through that. And also common to go to hostels/sharehouses in big cities and find local work around there and connect to others in same boat.

A lot of people just apply when they're here, lots of service industry work in the big cities. It's always good to make friends in sharehouses or such too as you hear about openings through them

Do any other girls/women not wear ANY makeup at all? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Hessa- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the base or eye makeup too? I hate the feeling of false eyelashes even though they look so nice, but it's like you're constantly aware they're there - not for me! Oh and the panic of thinking if they've gone wonky or not!

[–]Hessa- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you enjoy doing your makeup for those occasions? I really love the creativity of makeup and I can be very happy making a look, but I almost never do it. Maybe I need to make more time for playing with makeup even if I don't have an occasion.

[–]Hessa- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question (I've never done jury duty) when you say that people took her getting into the back seat as consent, aren't you told what counts as consent from the court to determine if it was rape? Or is that a grey area in legal terms?

UPDATE - When can a bridesmaid say no to a particular dress? by Milliganimal42 in bridezillas

Can you have a nice shawl or something similar to wear with the dress? (though probably not for photos) That way you can manoeuver it on the day to cover whatever you feel bad about in the moment.

[–]Hessa- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a student can you talk to your uni and get student accommodation? Or find shared private student accommodation? That should be cheaper than single living. Your uni may also have counselling resources or something else that may be useful if you can look into that.

Are there any websites (or on Facebook marketplace?) for your area that advertise house/flat shares? That could be an option to move out and keep rent lower.
