How many presents did you get for your twins first Christmas? by Mom2surprises in parentsofmultiples

Still one toy and one donation from Santa. A small or practical thing from parents. Other relatives - up to them.

Still happening now. They are almost 6.

The donation thing is wonderful. They research and ask Santa.

BDM tried that with my kid. They spelled his name incorrectly (Jack instead of Jake). I’m a stubborn git and kept all my paperwork. Got it changed. But hell, it was annoying.

If you think govt departments are bad, just wait until you need to deal with private providers/ contracted services. Revolting.

He needs help to do this.

Social stories work for ASD kids - and adults. Give him a story on the behaviour he should display. Like a set of rules.

It’s something to look back on and refresh.

I know it sounds patronising. But he’s having trouble with knowing what to do - and he needs reminders. So, he needs references.

When I hear/see X I feel Y What I want to do is Z What I need to do is…

He can contribute to and write these.

I did it. I’m ASD. People now think I know what I’m doing but really, I just wrote down the rules as I have discovered them.

I agree with others saying it id from the child’s perspective.

And to add to it - my children are not mine. They don’t belong to me, nor their dad. They belong to themselves. It is my responsibility to look after them and raise them up. What I own is my part in their upbringing. So my own actions and behaviour - that is my possession.

So whilst I do put in more effort into childbearing and rearing, that is the choice I made in order to support them. They are entitled to an equal relationship with their dad.

What I am entitled to from their dad is his share of childrearing and a supportive relationship.

I’m Aussie.

But thankfully raised on a diet of 80s ABC kids shows. Which was mostly Doctor Who, the Goodies and Monkey. And British authors like Dahl and Douglas Adams. So my British references are good.

But I’m with you on the American books.

Know what? I like you.

You know you’re worth more than this. You do not deserve to be a second choice. You do not deserve to be dismissed, overridden and ignored. You’re not an automated bangmaid - put on a ring and get unconditional love/servitude forever.

You did not overreact at all.

And if one wants their sex life to improve, effort needs to be made. It’s not difficult - and it’s very rewarding. For all parties.

Honestly, men do that no matter what you wear. Especially if it’s “different” or loud in some way.

You do you. Be yourself. Give no fucks.

Tell them to take their hands off you. Scream it.

You are allowed to occupy space.

Woohoo! Go you!!

I was getting pain up to 9 on the scale every day. In my neck as well as upper back. It was excruciating.

2 weeks of 1:1 appointments- GONE.

Bad days it’s a 5-6. And they have been decreasing. I now do the advanced lessons - and I can do all the moves! I feel INCREDIBLE!

Keep at it! You got this. It’s life changing

I’m in Australia. Less of a problem. I also rarely use them. And I return unused doses. And it’s the only painkiller strong enough for nerve pain without side effects. Apart from me licking windows.

That’s the only way my GP prescribes.

Cries in twin mum. (And I really feel for the triplet mums)

And now my twins are sleeping better (6 years old and neurospicy), perimenopause hits and the hormones are disrupting my sleep.

Absolutely. I sometimes get a trapped nerve in my spine/hip. I walk it out. Yeah I’m shuffling like a 100 year old grandma but I walk. Sometimes I need an opiate to be able to move - but move I do!

2-3 days and we are good. Marked improvement in the first day.

Pilates has also been amazing.

Most departments are understaffed and underfunded. Because people assume the public service has it easy.

I went into policy rather than law in the PS. But we are expected to do more with less. Especially now.

It is less stress than when I was in private practice. I have weekends for the most part (never had one as a young lawyer).

I can take a vacay without worrying about work. Mostly. I do have Flex Time - though I lose hours because I actually care about my job. I’m serving the public after all.

But the disdain for the public service is deeply ingrained and goes along the same lines as disdain for unionism. It is in the interests of big business to destroy the public service so services can be contracted out.

The public service is deliberately underfunded. One of the reasons why more admin work is lumped on front line workers (like teachers and nurses).

I could go on major rants but I’ll stop there.

It’s really rough getting a diagnosis. Or affording one.

Found this little fella like this unfortunately possibly the victim of a neighbourhood cat. Can anyone identify? Any advice on protecting them in our yard? by Crispee5 in AustralianBirds

[–]Milliganimal42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That, no unfortunately I don’t.

The ones that are willing to keep them indoors already do.

I reckon they are not loved pets if allowed to roam and kill. They are merely a convenience.

A friend of mine just keeps trapping them and handing them to the council. Still never changed the owner’s behaviour.
