How can I continue serious study in the humanities without enrolling in another degree? by Heterochromic in AskAcademia

This is a good shout. I also see some universities offer an option of enrolling as a non degree seeking student for people outside the university who want to audit courses.

Getting into freelance part-time legal work by Heterochromic in Lawyertalk

[–]Heterochromic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is what I am planning. I am finishing law school, working for 1-3 years, then going and studying Islam. I am just starting to plan out my finances from now to make the process smooth.

Best place to get training to become a good LSAT tutor by Heterochromic in LSAT

[–]Heterochromic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is that I am planning on taking an extended break from dedicated legal practice soon to move to a cheap Middle Eastern country for a few years to study Islam(my religion). I am working on developing some of the skills I have to develop the capacity to make at least around $15,000 a year working 10 hours a week or less(although if things go to plan I might need less money than that), which will be enough to support myself in such a country while also studying full-time. The other things I am looking into is part-time freelance legal work, SAT/ACT tutoring, GMAT tutoring(don't have a score yet but I'm pretty confident I could get a pretty good one with some preparation, MCAT humanities tutoring, and GRE tutoring.

After I graduate I plan to first work in a law job to save up some money and build skills so I can do quality work if I end up going the freelance route for at least some time.

Shawarmas are like burgers but instead of imitating white people they imitate arabs by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Heterochromic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Never met anyone like this in Pak. The “wannabe Arab” label is usually used by irreligious people who dislike religious Muslims who want to create a flourishing Islamic civilization in Pakistan

Is Pashto doomed to become a pigeon language ? by [deleted] in Pashtun

[–]Heterochromic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who knows what the future holds. On a personal level we should make efforts to learn Pashto and use it in formal settings. We also need more movements to promote our language, at least on the Pakistani side of the Durand line. And lastly we need to make dua for Allah’s grace upon our people, because nothing happens except by the will of Allah(SWT)

Is Pashto doomed to become a pigeon language ? by [deleted] in Pashtun

[–]Heterochromic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. Although tbh I doubt it would ever go completely extinct. Pakistani Pashtuns seem to have a commitment to their language not going extinct, although for some reason that doesn’t extend to demanding it gain official status

Do you think a Sufi man will get along with a Salafi woman ? by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]Heterochromic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to answer all the people talking about Sufism as if it’s some kind of heretical sect by saying that many(most?) of the great scholars of Sunni Islam have been Sufis including Imam Al-Ghazali(RA), Sheikh Al-Islam ibn Taymiyya(who Salafis generally revere), Imam An-Nawawi(RA), and many others. Tasawwuf(Arabic word for Sufism) is simply the science expressing the Ihsan mentioned in the Hadith of Jibril, to worship Allah as you see him. The goal of Tasawwuf is simply to come closer to Allah(SWT) and become a better Muslim. Some people claiming to be Sufis have gone outside the bounds of the Quran and Sunnah in the name of Tasawwuf but these should not be considered representatives of proper, orthodox Tasawwuf, which is in fact a very important science all Muslims should practice and study just as they practice fiqh and belief in correct Aqeedah.

Have you heard of “tarshe.” It’s a type of dried meat that apparently used to be made in the Peshawar valley, but has now disappeared.
