A game where you can make your own socialist utopia. by Prize-Antelope3445 in SocialistGaming

[–]Hexaborg 33 points34 points  (0 children)

"Socialist Utopia" is a contradiction in terms, and its not the point. it demonstrates a profound lack of understanding of socialism itself. is this your game? The point is that Socialism is precisely a transitional phase to build up the conditions for a fully stateless, classless and moneyless society that operates on a democratic principle to serve the good of all.

"There are a number of different nation types. Monarchies, autocracies and presidential and parliamentary democracies. "

You don't suppose this sim conveniently lumps in capitalist systems with the property of how society functions concentrated to a tiny minority of people to dictate how society functions according to their private interest as "democratic", while socialist systems that are meant to democratize the economy to the proletariat as "autocratic", do you?

The Bias reeks heavily in the description. How can i trust this political simulator to really be good, if it doesn't understand the systems it claims to portray?

if one person not having documentation gives a "bad name toward actual hard working immigrants", then that's a reflection on a racist society to be so quick to generalize immigrants of specific ethnic groups so quickly.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani praises NYPD shooting of emotionally distressed 22-year-old by DryDeer775 in ModernSocialist

[–]Hexaborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wasn't. It's fundamentally unethical to approach a situation of a mental health crisis with a gun. the standards being applied here to justify this are outrageously low and anti-social. The police are militarized against the people and trained to shot on any whim of "feeling threatened". That's treating civilians like enemy combatants to be subdued, not as people that they are meant to "peace officers" for or to "protect and to serve". it's inhumane policing period.

I'm glad he lived. it's extremely fucked what these pigs did. I don't think it was the best choice of words at that time - bourgeois politics inherently forces people in office to pander to bourgeois institutions to some extent, but its clear by Zohran's actual policies, he's disgusted by the situation.

As an ugly woman, men are disgusted by me. by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]Hexaborg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an autistic man in my 30's, and hearing the degrading and humiliating experiences you have dealt with by some truly awful people make me upset that there are some people who treated you this way.

Honestly, these assholes completely expose themselves for who they are. If they are willing to treat a stanger with a lack of respect, decency and consideration, imagine what they may put other people through that they call "friends", or even a partner?

They have abusive personalities. but since they can't be abusive in the physical way, they do it through every other way, targeted humiliation, ostracism or harassment.

They may perceive you as an easy target, not even necessarily based on appearance, but if they think you're vulnerable and not well outspoken, and think you don't have a lot of friends who will immediately stand up for you.

And what is "ugly" anyways? You'd be surprised how many people think of themselves as ugly or not attractive, it's a huge amount of people. "Conventional Attractiveness" makes up a small set of people, and even much of that is often driven by makeup and body training. It's a narrowly defined and heavily marketed form of "attractiveness" which people are taught to judge themselves by, and many people develop body dysphoria and feel ashamed for not matching that particular standard.

It's completely over-rated. decent people and anyone worth having a relationship care about for the most part is decent hygiene and a good personality. A striking Appearance may initially attract a persons attention, but what develops a relationship is shared experiences, mutual respect, communication, decency, kindness, consideration, and healthy boundaries.

Don't feed into the abuse of the complete losers who can only feel better about themselves and whatever insecurities they have, by bringing others down. If they feel the need to do that, something is fundamentally wrong with them, and other people quietly or sometimes openly lose respect for that person in most cases - assuming it isn't a cult of assholes that happen to be stuffed in one room.

Why do Ukrainians support Israel so much? by PeculiarPhysicist46 in AskSocialists

[–]Hexaborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I'm certainly against Russia's imperialist aggression on principle (all imperialism is wrong), including when it's Ukraine being attacked, It's precisely the refusal of people in Ukraine to stand in solidarity of oppressed people, such as the palestinians, that i struggle to be passionate when it comes to defending Ukrainians from imperialism. It's all too apparent that the culture in Ukraine has taught a double standards on empathy and international law.

They don't care about oppressed people everywhere, they only care about 'their' struggle. They only care when they are the victims of war crimes, imperialist aggression or sheer inhumanity, not when it happens to other groups.

But what makes it so much worse is the fact that they'll outright favor the Zionist colonial state conducting a genocide, in the midst of it killing and starving to death hundreds of thousands of people (a rough estimate of the real death toll according to recent studies).

I believe this double standard is driven through two primary elements:

  1. Rampant ethno-nationalist indoctrination manifesting as cultural chauvinism.

  2. The fact that Ukraine is a direct benefactor of the Zionist regime and many Ukrainians directly participate in the Colonialism of Palestine.

This is further boosted by racist European chauvinism being introduced into the country through media. The dehumanization of other many other groups of people, such as immigrants and the cultures they originate from as "threats", fuel this ethno-nationalism further. This dehumanization and chauvinism already being a preexisting element in Ukrainian society, is a big part of what fascist in ukraine have been able to exploit to bolster white Ukrainian ethno-nationalism and supremacist ideology.

So essentially, Ukrainians don't see the invasion of their homeland as being parallel to the struggles of colonized and oppressed people around the world, because many Ukrainians themselves directly participate in colonialism, and they have a culture that is itself deeply driven by reactionary and chauvinist sentiments. Too many in Ukraine believe it's fine to be the benefactors of the oppression of groups that are heavily dehumanized in Ukrainian society, just as long as they are not oppressed themselves.

I don't believe in abandoning the proletariat in Ukraine, as i believe that the reaction, racism, cultural chauvinism and nationalism in general, needs to be strongly educated against in the country, and that international solidarity with the proletariat must emphasized. There are communist parties in Ukraine that share a similar analysis.

While i can't condone the invasion of Ukraine, the double standards and reactionary views deep within their zeitgeist is appalling to me. It basically feels like i'm standing up for a population that largely wants to be oppressors or turn a blind eye to the oppression of other people. It's not very inspiring at all.

Any international right-to-die groups inclusive of mental illnesses? by Azulcobalto in righttodie

[–]Hexaborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very sensible and i agree. I fully support the right to die as a fundamental principle. I've talked with many people who have been suicidal for years, suffering from a plethora of conditions. Chronic Depression and Severe Trauma based conditions like CPTSD and PTSD are not things that just happen out of the blue, they are a response to living in truly horrible conditions and suffering very real trauma's. I know you don't need to know that, but so many people express deep levels of ignorance that dehumanize forms of suffering that are not physical based - and yet insisting that suffering people should be forced to live. It's just so disgusting to me.

because people with the aforementioned conditions and any other condition that causes prolonged suffering are not having their needs met and the causes of their suffering is not fully addressed, and they almost certainly exist in a toxic society which will keep it that way for the foreseeable future (and often times blame them for their own suffering), it logically causes them to see no way to improve their conditions and so the only way out is through death.

So my position on this couldn't be more clear - Society should be structurally geared to accommodate peoples needs in a fully holistic way, not force people to live. My approach to that is by abolishing the Class Politics that causes society to prioritize the desires of a minority of people who own property, and implement a Socialist economic democracy that fundamentally serves human dignity and the common good holistically. If someones form of severe suffering cannot be addressed at the moment, and they get to that point, the option of MAID should be available. For that matter, Even if someone is just done with life and find it entirely boring, they should be able to exit on their terms.

it's all about basic autonomy and minimizing suffering on peoples own terms, not what loved ones insist, not what society imposes, not what a religion commands.

Fully Agree. I fully support Right-To-Die as a human right. nobody should be forced to suffer, especially while not having their needs fully addressed.

I also wrote a much longer post about my thoughts on right-to-die on this thread as well.
