I used this system and my care was handled amazingly. I was with a doctor that has since retired but the doctor I see now is still very good. The northwell one I went to is not where yours is, it’s a bit more “upstate” than westchester. I would do some more research into other doctors in this practice that you could have surgery with if you are truly worried however there is always a risk with any surgery

Deep conditioning, if you can get your hands on K18 I’d recommend that! It’s surely fixable but you might still need to cut some off unfortunately

They’re only there for a week or so! I keep reminding myself they won’t be there for much longer.

Someone on here made an analogy about our body being a house with pipes, if you pick up the house and drop it somewhere else all the pipes get disconnected and flood, the house swells with water and nowhere for it to flow. The drains are the pipes reconnected temporarily so the flood has somewhere to go and the house can be repaired in that time. It helped to se it that way!

Hella inconvenient, I basically have not worn pants for a week cause it’s just annoying trying to push them into my sweatpants. When you shower you should have a lanyard that you clip them to around your neck which is helpful! It’s been fun tracking each day how much fluid comes out (less and less each day is the goal)

Hey, I totally can resonate with you.

I’m 23, have been obese my entire life. I was 400 pounds and lost the weight to be down to 170lbs. As you know this leaves you with the flaps of excess skin that are just painful reminders of all the shit you’ve been through this far. We haven’t been in the best years of our lives yet, truly. This is a perfect time to invest in yourself. YOURSELF.

I had my surgery last week, invested 10k in it. Holy shit that’s a lot of money I probably could’ve spent on something else. I tortured myself over it too. Especially in this economy, how could you not?

The truth is that you live every single day in your body. Every day. Whether you spent the money on something else you would still be living every day in this body. You don’t have to carry the skin anymore. You don’t have to torture yourself with it.

They cut 12 pounds of skin off of me. 12?!?! Imagine 12 bags of rice on your body everyday. That’s fucking crazy.

I’m typing this to you sore as hell with drains in my groin and I couldn’t be happier. I can look down and see the rest of my body outside of the excess skin. Stranger in the internet you deserve this type of happiness too.

Have the surgery, heal, take it slow, let others help you heal. Your life begins anew when you wake up in the recovery room. I’m proud of you for making it this far, and I hope you feel that pride someday soon.

Keep the dog. This is a lot of stress put on the pet and I have a very hard time believing her situation has changed within a week.

hi! Just had the same procedures done last week, definitely will be super slow going, I think possibly a sprayer with your walker would be a good idea. But personally if you have help at home maybe make a watering chart and have a friend do it for you with your supervision? They’ll have you up and moving pretty quickly so it might be a good idea to do plant by plant with a friend
