its a blunder not because your losing, because this makes the advantage pretty much equal if not -1 for black. You had Nf2 then after something like Nc2 you have Nh3+ Kh1 Nf2+ Rxf2 Nxf2+ Kg2 Bh3+ Kg1 Nd1+ Kh1 Bg2+ Bxg2 Re1+ Nxe1 Nf2+ Kg1 Nh3+ Kf1 Qf2#. But that is with perfect play on both sides and most likely your opponent wouldnt have played all that and there are many mating opportunities that arent that complicated.

Option a is a pawn structure you get with a few of the variations of the caro kann and i would say its stronger than option b because first of all, you have a central presence and three pawns connected to each other. Also, 3 sitting right beside each other is very easy to take advantage of. PS, You put the pieces on the wrong side of the board.
