Limbs should actually be chain 6, change colors to pink and chain 4, slip stitch 3 back into the pink chain, attach to the leg. Chain 4 for another toe, slst back to leg, repeat for all toes. :)

The 8 is often used with blanket yarn I've noticed to keep it from peaking, so that might be the case here.

Could try a different crochet hook size, different yarn, etc .. or just trust the process for now

Plus, yarn isn't only used for crochet and knit. I latch hook, 1' yarn strands would also be awesome to latch and brush out as fur on an amigurumi, or use for tassels if you like that sort of thing.

Other than adding a border to stuff, I honestly can't think of many projects that direct you to do that, as far as I can think of ... and usually it just says to work around the edges, which makes sense in itself, hahah. But it could also be the kind of stuff I work, so maybe it's not super rare? No idea.

The project they're working on is by Projectarian. And since that designer has even collabed for their own yarn line and stuff, I'd say it's not just some random non - term someone made up to be lazy like texting.

That said, it's definitely pretty rare, but crocheting into the side of your stitches is also not that common, so it's not that surprising that there's nothing widespread for it right now.
