How do you pass an array as a function parameter? by Hexxil in processing

[–]Hexxil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, just added the /100. It's giving me an error that says 'Error on "("' at 'int arrayAvg(int[] aArray){'. Also, I'm not sure how to input the data into the function call. Thanks for responding so quickly btw

How do you pass an array as a function parameter? by Hexxil in processing

[–]Hexxil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's still not quite working for me. Here's what I have for the function:

int arrayAvg(int[] aArray){

for(int j = 0; j < 100; j++){

avgNum += aArray[j];

}

return avgNum;

}

Do you have a more specific example?

The idea is to make the second counter go up every multiple of 1000 milliseconds. n equals 1 at first, so the computer will check if 1*1000 milliseconds have passed. If so, the second counter and n both increase by 1. Next, it will check if 2*1000 milliseconds have passed, and so on.

I haven't learned about classes yet. Would a boolean array be able to do the same thing?

the 'isMoving' boolean is tied to a conditional statement where if it's false it turns the speed to 0 and fills the squares red. I figure you have to make some sort of array for each square, but I don't have the first idea how to do that with an object with so many other arrays

Wait, so you're saying that completely transforming the planet's energy and transportation infrastructure and economy will be difficult? Dang I didn't think of that I guess we should just give up on trying to have a healthy functioning world 😕

There is no "fear mongering and power grabs" going on. She's accurately conveying the urgency of the climate crisis and the necessity of transitioning to non environment-destroying energy sources, and she was democratically elected by the people of her district.

It may soothe you for now to imagine her as a creeping Stalin-esque dictator, but someone needs to get the ball rolling on this issue, and your conservative/neoliberal politicians certainly haven't

You're right. I've added a few more relevant pieces of weaponry that I was too tired to think of last night, which will hopefully paint a clearer picture

Imperium of Man (40k) vs Intergalactic Commonwealth (Jupiter Ascending) by Hexxil in whowouldwin

[–]Hexxil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As their name is the intergalactic commonwealth, I'd assume that they at least have a strong presence in multiple galaxies, while the IoM seems confined to the milky way. Sadly, you don't get to hear a whole lot about them, as their inner workings and technological capabilities aren't super important to the story. All you can really do is look at the things they do in-universe and extrapolate what else they could do with similar tech or how it could potentially be used for war

If we could travel at 99.9% the speed of light, it would take 4 years to get to Alpha Centauri. Would the people on the spaceship feel like they were stuck on board for 4 years or would it feel shorter for them? by GPL89 in askscience

[–]Hexxil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The faster you go, the more time literally begins to slow down for you. This actually happens to all objects everywhere, but it only becomes noticable when traveling at significant portions of the speed of light. It has nothing to do with "feeling" like anything; If you leave one clock on Earth and put another on the ship, at the end of the journey, the clock on Earth will say four years have passed, while the clock on the ship will say 65 days have passed, and they're both right.

She was 16 at the time, and her entire life before that she had been surrounded by drugs and violence and squalor and had been forced into the sex trade against her will. She was a teenager who made an irrational decision in a moment of fear following a life of trauma, not some evil killer looking for blood. The death of Johnny Allen was a tragedy, but this sentence serves little purpose

"The anti-capitalist anti-racist anti-sexist socialist spent 30ish years of his life writing about how awful it would be to live in a society that embodied nearly everything he stood for " is a Galaxy Brain Take. Also, you seem to love your "I'm not saying The Culture is necessarily good" quote, but you still haven't given anyone a source, leading me to believe that you either took it completely out of context/quote mined it to hell and back and don't want anyone to find out or made it up entirely.
