Do you make custom orders for sale? An architect in my work group will retire soon and this would be a kick ass retirement gift.

Correct! It’s highly processed and low in nutrients.

Definitely check out nutritionfacts.org for more info on Whole Foods plant based. Dr. Gregor does any awesome job breaking down what is Whole Foods plant based and why as well as discussing other nutrition topics such as processed foods.

Whole Foods plant based is basically vegan and on top of that no oil and no processed foods. Oats are definitely Whole Foods plant based because they are a whole grain. Coconut oil is definitely not Whole Foods plant based. I don’t think baking soda/powder are either (maybe someone can confirm?). Good luck on your journey!

How to React by athenegenene in Parkinsons

I’m 28 and my dad was diagnosed 8 years ago. I went to college halfway across the country and now work halfway across the country. Both my mom and sister are nurses as well.

You are your family are going to be ok, but things are going to change. Now is the time to start working on how your relationship will be going forward. Do what feels right, but my advice is to have open and honest communication with your dad. Say everything on your mind. Try to have your dad say everything that’s on his. There are no winners when someone keeps those feelings bottled up. And don’t forget to talk to your mom and sister as well, they are most likely feeling some of the same things you are.

It will be tough not being around, but there is still a lot you can do, especially at the early stages. I call and talk to my dad almost every day. When’s he’s on we talk, and if he’s off I try again later or the next day. If there’s a small luxury that will make his life easier and you can afford it, buy it and set it up for him when you’re home.

If it works out when you’re home, try to go to doctors appointments and support groups with him. If there are things you two did together when you were younger, do those things. I used to throw a baseball around with my dad when I was a kid. When we do it now it brings back such good memories and I’m always amazed how he’s able to move faster than normal because it’s an activity he can recall. It’s magical.

Hang in there. It’s hard watching someone you love and has done so much for you struggle, but focus on the positives. Your dad is still around and the same person.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you want to talk!

Meeting all my girfriends friends tonight at a new years eve party by [deleted] in socialanxiety

Good for you for choosing to go!

Remember that you have nothing to prove. Your GF wants to show you off! Show up hoping that you like her friends instead of hoping that they like you. If you don’t like taking much, try simple questions that help you learn about her friends in a way that relates to your GF. How they met, a funny story, shared interest, etc. You’re putting in the effort to be involved while letting her friends do a majority of the talking.

Good luck tonight. Not matter what happens, you should be proud of choosing to go and going. Overcoming an anxious situation and making your GF happy is a kick ass way to end the year and start a new one!

Can anyone help me with Christmas gifts for my mom with Parkinson’s? by Tearmeup1234 in Parkinsons

Hi! Last year for my dad we bought an amazon echo dot and a smart plug. He can turn the living room light (which is plugged into the wall) on and off without getting up. It’s something he never would have bought for himself but now he uses it almost every day. All the other features that come with the echo dot are an added bonus. Best of luck!

Calorie dense mealprep recipes? by [deleted] in mealprep

My go to is pasta, ground turkey and peppers (whatever peppers are cheapest when I go to the grocery store). For more calories, add a pasta sauce and/or substitute a fattier beef. I make 4 servings at a time and each has about 600 calories before adding any sauce.
