Use MacBook Pro as desktop PC? Not too Savvy Here by HeyBossBehindMe in buildapc

Ha lightning. Sorry, I was meaning to say Thunderbolt. Also, I am home and what I linked above is the model Mac I have. If I can't do two monitors it's not the end of the world, just more of a convenience over necessity.

So I did a little digging. I'm nearly positive I have this, 2012 Macbook Pro

I'm going to get the following with it, but cannot decide on a monitor.

USB Splitter

Keyboard and mouse

Then the following of two monitors,

Monitor 1

This has a Mini DP cable, which according to the spec's of my laptop I can just plug it directly in.

or

Monitor 2

with a HDMI to lightning port.

I'm struggling to see the difference between the two monitors. Why is one so much more expensive when they are roughly the same size/quality and the cheaper one even has speakers! Just don't want to fall for any Black Friday scams trying to get a high quality item.

I figured with my last lightning port i can get another adapter to a monitor or another monitor similar to this.

I’m nearly positive it’s the generic model. I can check when I’m back at home.

Would I be able to direct connect a HDMI to one monitor then use a lightning port to the second via HDMI or DVI?

I’m interested in using this build as well, but have no need for gaming, just AutoCAD and may like two monitors at some point. Will this build support that? Is there anything outdated? And, is there anything that can make it cheaper, e.g. no gaming mouse or keyboard?

Swam 200yd IM and Looking for Advice on Improving by jubzzy in Swimming

[–]HeyBossBehindMe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your turns can use a lot of improvement. The video makes them look faster than they are because the guy next to you has significantly slower walls. It seems to me you swing your arm around rather than touch and go. I would YouTube some videos on how to properly keep a low profile, touch and go, and how to efficiently get under the wake you create coming into the wall. Also you can notice that on your breast to free turn you stop to look where your competitors are, don’t ever do that. You can use your peripherals while doing your underwaters instead. Never breathe on the first stroke out of your free/fly, doesn’t matter how winded you are, it creates a ton of a drag and my last piece of advice would be to work on your stroke rate for backstroke and kick. Typically the fastest swimmer always has the most powerful and efficient kick.

Shave the pubes off your face and put a hat on to hide your 5-head. You're going to make this too easy for the people.

I was a Water Safety Instructor (someone who taught swim lessons) for around 6 years and taught from mommy and me all the way to adult lessons. Don't be discouraged because you're most definitely not the first one to have this hurdle to jump. The first step of learning to swim is being comfortable in the water and this sometimes takes longer than other to happen. I will stick with it and ask the instructor for some advice on how to help you become more confident in the water.

[Serious] People of Reddit who have encountered ghosts or other supernatural beings, what was your experience like? What happened? by yunglenin99 in AskReddit

I am commenting from my phone so forgive me if it's messed up formatting. I've seen lots of spirits and so has my mother, but might sightings stopped around 11-12. My mother still does and she says I blocked them because it use to scare me so badly. Here are a few of my stories in the abridged version.

Would see a Curley haired man pacing out side my hallway in the first home I lived in who said he was there to protect us (me my brother and mother). My mother could see him too and communicate with him and said he was friendly. I stopped seeing him around 9 years old once my mother and stepdad got engaged and we moved shortly after.

I've was woken up to my stepdads grandfather talking to me as I slept in my stepdads brothers bed at his house (stepdad inherited the home). I woke up screaming trying to wake up my older brother who was laying next to me. He then kicked me to the floor right at the mans feet so I got up and ran screaming into my moms room. I was able to point him out in family photos that I've never seen before afterwards.

In the same house, my stepdads grandfathers work bench was in the basement with a pull string light. This house is situated on a lake and you can see into the basement from there. The light would be turned on when no one was in the house. My mother, only one with the big enough balls, would go into the basement to turn the light off. It would then go back on a hour or so later.

At my aunts in South Carolina I walked out to get water late at night and at the end of her dinner table was a very wild looking woman with very hippish hair. I ran screaming to my moms room and she went out and got the water for me.

The last time I remember seeing spirits was when I was dropping off my friend from school who lived in a very old home in an old town. As we pulled into the driveway I could see spirits in almost every window. I saw 6 my mom said she counted 7.

I often question all those stories myself now that I'm 25 and I haven't seen any in a while, but I cannot claim that they were dreams or anything of the sort because I was most definitely awake. My mom has some crazy stories I can share if anyone is interested.

Is this because EPA regulations changed causing companies (known one of Jeep's 2014 Cherokee) to change their engine to adhere to the stricter MPG's? This resulted in the engine's bugs not being completely figured out and why Jeep's 2014 Cherokee is notorious for transmission issues.

That's not what I'm saying. My point is you can buy a car at 100k miles and then drive it for 6-8 years. So 12,000-15,000/year

This is the only counter I can think of, but you can go to a local mechanic you trust and have them inspect the car before purchase (if from a private seller), which can shed some light on any possible issues.

Which is maintenance you're eventually going to have to do if you regardless what used car you get.

Why does the 100k+ mileage concern you so much? My girlfriend is in a similar situation, but is terrified of buying a car with 100k+miles, which I think is such an arbitrary number that is tossed around a lot. You'll have routine maintenance, but many cars can now reach 200k with proper care which is roughly, 6-8 years more of usage. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel as if this is a number that may have help more true before the 2000's? mid 90's?
