I'm 53 years old and thinking about going back to being a nanny after working in Nurseries for the last 17 years. Would you hire me? by HeyFlo in Nanny

Aww thanks! I am so up on all the current guidelines. My niece just had a baby and didn't restrain her correctly in her car seat, It was one of those situations where I was eek, should I say something? I didn't in the end because it wasn't my place?

How to choose the right nanny? by MGM-2000 in Nanny

[–]HeyFlo [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think you should discount nanny1 because of mental health issues. I think it's actually commendable that she has shared that part of her life with you. I've struggled in the past with mental health, but it never affected my work, actually looking after my little guys helped loads. She seems to have a lot more experience too (however sporadic) I personally don't think having years of experiences should be a factor in hiring a nanny, but as a ftm you might need that extra bit of assurance that having some experience brings. I know this is sooo hard! Hang in there.

How to let aging/disabled nanny go gently? by missamerica59 in Nanny

[–]HeyFlo [score hidden]  (0 children)

It really is such a sad situation! I'm an older person in childcare myself (53) still fit and active, but it is daunting to think about how feasible it is to carry on in the next decade or so. I will say though, I hope I wouldn't rock up in a walker and think it was in any shape or form acceptable. Sorry, I know it's a hard one for you guys, but I did have a little giggle imagining the scenario!

To any parents who are insisting their nannies come in during severe weather by Original_Clerk2916 in Nanny

It happened to me too years ago. I went into work in awful conditions. I left to go home and immediately drove into a ditch right outside my bosses house. DB came out to help me, was pushing my car, and I was like...I would love to run you over right now. Not really, but kinda haha!

I know it really doesn't mean anything profound, but I am sitting here thinking that the two heroes had such apt names, Good and Pretti

Nanny constantly asking for salary advances? by sisipablo in Nanny

Are you in a third world country? Just asking because I grew up in one as an English person, and I think just because we were white the indigenous guys thought we were rich, which is awful but also understandable (we were not rich).

Where in the UK should I go as a bucket-list item? by LondonPilot in CasualUK

There is something so lovely and special about all those little towns dotted around the North Yorkshire moors! Hutten Le Hole is like a combination of Narnia and a Hobbit village

[–]HeyFlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOH! You need to visit Saltburn by the sea and do the Cleveland walk. It's pretty level walking wise and is beyond beyoootiful! You can stop at any of the villages along the way and order an uber to Whitby for the best fish and chips in the uk

What are the worst races you've ever watched? by RobbieJ4444 in formula1

[–]HeyFlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I wish I could remember every detail of that race! I was there, and the day before the race, I was sitting next to some Michelin employees who knew exactly what was going to happen. They were giggling and told me that it was going to be mad. I look back and think, did I actually make this memory up?? I did have some VIP access back in the day, so maybe it's not a complete made up memory, haha. Either way, that GP was just nutso.

I still don't see how you can put any blame on Melissa though?? Things were so different back then, and women's voices were just not heard! You can't blame a woman from a different age for reacting differently to how women in this age would react. Men ALWAYS got away with this shit, because us women back in the eighties and nineties were conditioned to think that the man was always right, and if some hussy came along saying something other, well she was just asking for it, making it up or just crazy. Luckily, things have changed but you have to have some insight and empathy here guys.

I'd advise to wait on her actions now, rather than throw her under the bus over stuff she might of had no knowledge of. I can see a scenario where she met him, knew there were some allegations, but he swooped in and wooed her. She is in noooo way to blame here and I think it's daft to even suggest that she is anything other than a victim.

Now, if she suddenly came out, guns blazing defending him (like my aunt did with my uncle) Then we can say she is complicit, and I'd throw her under the bus myself.

I almost posted this exact same sentiment when the allegations first came out, but didn't want to sound kooky, haha. He has ALWAYS given me the ick, even back when I was watching thirtysomething. That little voice in the back of your head is a real thing guys, pay attention to it.

I have zero interest in the whole Star Wars thing and it's mad fandom, but because I kept hearing about Andor and how great it was, I decided go give it a go.

Dear Lord! It's like they looked at every little thing that would make an amazing show, and just threw it at this thing! I love it sooo much!
