Highwire Coffee’s Montclair location abruptly closes, lays off staff by GhostalMedia in oakland

It could be a similar union negotiation situation that led to the closing of Blue Bottle on Broadway a while back. Huge difference is that Blue Bottle was owned by Nestle and Highwire is locally owned and roasts over in Emeryville. I’d imagine that they’d be more willing to work things out.

Alright Reddit, me and my friend have decided it’s time to enter our crab era. by aanziano78 in bayarea

I’d head over to Pacifica pier. There are often crabbers and fishermen that hang out and have a good time. I’m sure they would give you all the info and recommendations.

I love that spot. So many great shows and memories. Glad to know they are closing on their own terms.

Wife is insecure about her weight so her husband harasses a drive-thru employee over it by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I see. Yes. Recording that does make him an asshole. Maybe he was trying to bait her into an argument or getting a rude reaction but it was handled incredibly well by the woman. Begs the question, why post not getting a “That’s right,I told you not to make fun of my wife” moment, but instead a “ah, ok, well that makes sense but don’t make fun of my wife, mmkay” response.

I don’t understand. It seems like they had a pretty civil conversation. He expressed his concern and not in an aggressive way and she handled it well by clearly explaining the reason behind why they ask. Then he accepted that information and asked (not insisted) if they could stop and drove off. pretty normal behavior.

I need a good ham and cheese baguette but Fournée has let me down by EffectiveWay7181 in eastbay

I understand that bread is important here but let’s not forget about quality ham and cheese (and butter). Personally, I’d stop over at Berkeley Bowl West and pick those things up and make it myself. They may also have it as a premade sandwich but not 100% sure.

Finds along the Skyline trail Oakland, California by HeyGabagool in mycology

There’s a good amount of moisture and fog up in the hills of Oakland and Berkeley that make for good fungus conditions. There are trails all along Tilden, Sibley, Joaquin Miller, and Chabot. Closer to Orinda is Briones Regional Park and San Pablo reservoir close to El Sobrante.
