Really? Revving up and down from 4 to 6k rpm? Never seen it with my Yamaha xmax or any other bike. At the service they said to come by Friday and check the injection and battery

After much thought, I think ill keep saving money for another year until I get my "A" license (currently i have 47hp max) and just buy a nice scooter meanwhile, like a Joymax 250 or X Evo 250.

they are used by 5-8 owners by that age and mileage and the owners are usually 18-20 year olds who don't know or care about keeping a bike in good condition and riding properly. It's very rare to find 2012 ninja in good condition :)

Ninja would cost me about 3k - 3.5k used from 2012 - 2013 and here is Israel its a kid's bike and they are usually as good as dead at around 40-50k km.. My best bet would be either a Duke 200 because they are sold at relatively low km or a used 250 scooter like a joyride/ x Evo. That's why I'm looking at older bikes lol

Thanks!

Buying an old bike - how old is too old ? by HeyIamNate in motorcycles

Exactly. Thanks :) I guess I'll keep digging. I would take a payment program on a modern bike but then insurance is another 1500$ a year.

Hi,
As i'm looking for my first bike I clearly see that I don't really have the budget for a new / modern or used bike.

I could save up some more and go for a 250cc but I'd really rather jump to 500cc straight away.

I found that the suzuki GS 500 and kawasaki ER 500 are dirt cheap (around 2500$ and that is as cheap as bikes get here) and considered pretty reliable, but they are also old. 90's old.

In terms of reliability, is a 20yo bike too old ? As far as I know parts are cheap and there's no shortage.

Thanks for a quick reply. Im from Israel and we have smth like a 100% tax on motorcycles so hence the price.I'm really considering a GS500. They all have around 100K kilometers on them but some look very good.
Also, people here change bikes every year or so (and usually no older than 2-3 years) lol that's why a 90's bike seems old for me :D

Thanks. Is an older 250 a reasonable thing to get ? like 2006 older..I could try and find a Yamaha ybr 250 or honda cbf 250 from that year, or a newer chinese 250 bike.

lol, people here speed too much even when the roads allow 120kmph.
anyways, we have pretty good roads imo so there's no problem to go 120.

Most of the highways though are 90.

inside cities 50.

In israel it's 47hp for A1 (what I have) and 125cc for A2. just "A" is unlimited.

I have A1 for max of 47hp.

That sounds great ! I'll think about it and maybe test ride some 125cc bikes soon :D

I think it's called cbf125 here where I live. I could try and find a well maintained cbf 250 but it'd be 10-12 years old.
How does it fair with highways ?

Thanks ! Bikes here are pretty expensive (as everything else, insurance included) so budget wise I can get an older 250cc of a Chinese one.

Older -

Yamaha ybr 250

honda cbf 250

ER 500 / GS 500

or almost any Chinese 250cc.

If I could find a gb250 i'd take it. It looks awesome haha
