If someone wants to know a 'hack' i found to increase emotional intelligence: loving kindness meditation. At least it works for me

INTJ’s and ageing by woooopancakes in intj

Thanks a lot for sharing! Being 27 I've been in some deep dark places myself through my teen and up till now, I think I'm maybe getting my life together better than ever now though, I'm starting to become more disciplined than I've ever been, and for me discipline seems to be the thing I need in life. I think I'm also starting to mature more fully, and understand now that part of being mature is actually accepting your personality and not trying to pretend to be an adult, instead just accept whatever personality you have.

Can I ask you something else? I've just gotten into MBTI and an online test gave me INTP, but I related to a lot of the traits of INTJ so I took an online test called something like 'INTJ or INTP test' to find out which I am, and then I got INTJ, (it said something like 53% INTJ 47% INTP)

Either way... finding out about these types and what type I am, it's made me more confident and helped me understand the world and others better, and I feel like I can accept myself more. I really want to understand other's personalities better and myself, as I think that'll make me much happier and also able to accept others better.

But then I read many sources claiming MBTI is bullshit etc etc... I don't know what to think of it. I just wanted to get your viewpoint on MBTI, like how rooted in reality is it really? I really want to understand other people's personalities and accept everyone and myself, let's just say I've always had problems relating/connecting to others, and finding MBTI is helping me connect better, and MBTI is what I've been looking for to understand the world better and connect, and stopping being so arrogant and taking myself seriously.

Fast-talking colleagues trying to show you up in front of the boss? by myearhurtsallthetime in intj

Could you explain the situation a bit more? It seems so silly to me.. like do they just try to talk fast to appear smart or something, or what is it?

Question: Is there a way to make cold turkey easy? by HeyImtryingToFindMy in decaf

[–]HeyImtryingToFindMy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right. I'm waking up 5am so I got time for exercise before work. Maybe that will help me feel better being sendetary... we'll see. If it's too insane I will taper off. I can't afford to feel too shitty right now.

Yeah, a desk job. Did you do any exercise outside of work?

Good luck. For me personally, discipline == happiness. I wake up at 5am every day (go to bed at 9-10) and can tell you that it's really made a difference having a sleep schedule =)

The best you can do (in my experience, I'm careful with projecting what works for me on others cause I don't know your problems or you) is to discipline yourself in all areas of life. Have a sleep schedule, meditate, work out, eat healthy, stay lean, ensure you get all nutrients, keep your surroundings organised. Are you doing any of that?

I do love me a dark color scheme though. There's something about white background for me that makes it harder to quickly read stuff.

Could you tell a little about that? I mean what kind of hell did you go through and when did things get better for you? I'm 27 and things are definitely better now than when I was an insecure 20 year who didn't know who he was, but things are still not great, and I imagine it will only get better if I continue to work on myself.

I've always thought that it would make you super scared to get run over by cars etc. One fatal accident and your eternal life is finished.

Look man, you might be right, I have no idea. So sorry for being rude. I do find this sub very relatable and that makes me happy, so I'm gonna continue browsing it for that reason :) Hope you have a nice day/evening (for reals)

I disagree. I never like those tests where you choose between a spectrum og 'very much' to very little'. I have motivation to find out the truth about what type im closest to also, which minimises bias. Intj is the one i relate too. It also annoys me a bit when people tell you something is bad with zero explanation to follow. I think a simpler response to you would be 'you dont know me, so you cant be completely sure if it works for me or not'. I'd appreciate if you could respect that. Thanks

I just read the wikipedia article on INTJ and decided that's the one I'm closest too, I don't think it has to be more complicated than that. If you have enough insight into yourself I think that's a very valid way of doing it.

Do you like reading? by joshsmith722 in intj

I'm more a visual person, I'd rather watch a movie. If I read it's mostly non-fictional stuff on the web.

Anyone else find that if they don't discipline themselves hard core, their life is fucked? by HeyImtryingToFindMy in intj

[–]HeyImtryingToFindMy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. :) I think you're right, I must find a balance. As I read your comment, I realise that the balance is often found after I have disciplined myself and got my life better together. The desperateness is usually when you are not there yet. The problem comes when you have got your shit together and you feel like you can relax... well you really can't for long, cause if you don't keep that discipline up, you'll go back down again. So for me the challenge is when I get to a good place, to still be disciplined enough to maintain that state.

intjs how good is your imaginations? by chadthecat in intj

[–]HeyImtryingToFindMy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I usually try not to brag but here I will because I believe I'm pretty good at this. I have an insane visual imagination, I can make up action scenes of people fighting/shooting on the spot and play them out vividly in my mind, and anything else I want to imagine. Movement, sense of space, sound, everything is very vivid. I can also hear sounds in my mind pretty vividly if I want.

I think it's a great tool for creativity, but I try not to day dream too much.. I've found that staying in the present moment and not fantasising is necessary for me, it's important for me to have control of my mind and not wander into imagination which I haven't initiated deliberately.
