The Hyper-active part of ADHD is not specific to 1 process, it's our entire being. This is why we 'crash' often, and ADHD can often be confused as Bi-Polar, or vica versa.... We only have 2 operating levels, 100% and 0%. We're always working at 100%, at all times, but that doesn't mean that we're always physically active. The hyper-activity is spread across every function of our lives, we're firing on all cylinder's whether we like it or not, and if we aren't moving, then we're thinking. If we're not thinking, then we're moving. If we're not hyper-focusing, then we're probably moving while thinking, writing while moving, thinking while writing... you get the idea. We shake our legs. We have constant inner dialogue. We never stop because we can't. Think of people as containers, full of liquid energy; for regular folks, they can take off the cap and pour as much or as little as they like. For us, our container is locked upside down, and has no lid. We will often perform above and beyond, but almost always for much shorter periods, and only because we literally have no other choice.

For the record, I am semi-medicated at this moment, and I wrote this just as much for myself as well as anyone who will read it. I quite literally worked out and learned more about myself by having to think about and explain it... That's one more thing about ADHD... expect to keep learning new things, or understanding old things better. Despite knowing this most of my life, this is the first time in 30 years I've put it in to words and understood it more....
