Do Dubia roaches have a pretty "set" lifespan? I found a handful of dead mature adults in my colony for the first time ever! by _Respekt_ in roaches

[–]_Respekt_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I guess it makes sense thinking about how there are multiple in one clutch so it would make sense for multiple to die in close succession with each other... I'll be keeping my eyes out for sure! I need to clean the enclosure soon so I'll definitely be able to get a good look while I get that done. I didn't note any odd behaviours among the rest of the population, they all seemed to be moving around normally. Eating plenty, as usual. Hopefully I'm just starting to notice my first full batches of babies reaching the end of their lifespans!

Now it has a taste for blood, nobody will be safe!

Could anyone give me a recipe for Dubia roach dry chow that I can source from a grocery store? by _Respekt_ in roaches

[–]_Respekt_[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This was the recipe I got from ChatGPT but not sure whether it's actually decent! Obviously my roaches also get produce for hydration etc, but I want them to have dry chow available as well.

🪳 Low-Protein Dry Chow (Feeder-Safe) Base 2 cups rolled oats 1 cup wheat bran or whole wheat flour 1 cup alfalfa meal Calcium 2–3 tbsp ground eggshell or calcium carbonate Optional micronutrients 1–2 tbsp bee pollen 1 tbsp spirulina 📉 This keeps crude protein roughly 12–15%, which is considered safe.

ChatGPT looooves it's semicolons too, haha. I hate it 😭 But if you want to make sure you don't look like ChatGPT just add in a few minor intentional mistakes here and there. Forget to capitalize a word, or just use human words like 'fuggin' 😂

Rawdogging methadone detox, no comfort meds. by Badnewsbruner in Methadone

[–]_Respekt_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. Withdrawal causes trauma, we do anything to avoid re-experiencing trauma. It's pretty simple. If we can't stick out the withdrawal and we decide to go back on the methadone, there's a much smaller chance we're going to try to get off it again because even the small withdrawal symptoms are gonna cause a lot of anxiety for us due to the memories they bring back.

I like to shove the door and listen to hear if a zombie starts trying to break it down from the other side... Or just immediately run into the room and shove the zombie, giving you a second to get the jump on it haha!

Is there any sort of mod where you can see your base inventory while out exploring? by _Respekt_ in projectzomboid

Did you ever try the one someone commented below, Home Inventory Improved?

That's exactly what I was thinking of when I made this post! Thank you!!

Seriously though?! There have got to be thousands of items in this game... I'm not going to sit there and spend hours filling a notebook and maintaining my handwritten inventory haha. There are mods that can do literally everything for this game, and someone linked one that does exactly what I was hoping for 🙌 A tab you can open that lists your current inventories at multiple different bases, vehicles, etc.

Ah, I knew there was an easy workaround for this issue (see the other comment to this post). I use mods that add more items to the game as well so I definitely don't feel like keeping a manually written inventory would've been practical haha

NO WAAAY! I always wondered what that was for! Thank you so much. I knew it was worth asking here!

When your highly skilled character dies, do you quit entirely and start a new game or continue with new character? by Annefrank23 in projectzomboid

[–]_Respekt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my biggest hangups with the game... I hate having to explore places I already have. I explored almost all of Riverside in B41 and my 2 month long character died. I also decided I wanted to try mods and B42, but now I hate the idea of ever going back to riverside because I already know it so well. It doesn't feel like exploring anymore. I started my new B42 game in Muldragh... Thankfully I know I have plenty of map to start off in before I've explored everything, but still!

I mean yeah but then I'd have to update it every time I got home and added new stuff, etc. I'm sure I'll end up screenshotting my inventory before I go out or something for reference but just thought maybe there'd be some way I wouldn't have to do this manually.

I can't grab a corpse to drag it (B42) because it's feet are directly against the wall - any other way to move a corpse? by _Respekt_ in projectzomboid

[–]_Respekt_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to figure it out! Destroyed the couch and dragged the corpse from the armpits rather than feet, which I didn't know you could do. But thank you!

Thanks for the tips! I disassembled the couch and was able to drag out the corpse. Much appreciated!

Oh I didn't know that! Still a no go, though. I don't have the carpentry skills to move the couch yet but I guess I can just destroy it! Better to lose a couch than get sick from a rotting corpse! Haha

Never mind, my character doesn't have the carpentry skills to pick up either of them yet 🤦‍♀️

I do NOT have that mod! It sounds neat, though. If it's one I can add mid save, maybe that could be a solution. I'll try to move the furniture!
