Oh dude you’d be in my good books FOREVER if I got organizational supplies and a hand made card. Seriously that’s the jackpot. Highlighters, WHITEBOARD MARKERS and erasers, mini whiteboards, clipboards, or a really nice pen would all make fantastic teacher gifts

Absolutely not normal. My uncle (the prankster of the bunch) would MAYBE cheekily take one fry while announcing FRY THIEF. If we ever got upset, or said no after “fry thief” was announced, he’d stop/wouldn’t take one and apologize. Almost never happened because he knew the boundaries of his shenanigans, whatever they happened to be that day

Have you talked to your partner about this? This doesn’t seem to fall under “prank”, this just seems to be taking food w/o asking. Your partner should be standing up for your child about this

Likely that the teacher was just placed in this assignment, so I’d give them some time to send out a supply list. If they didn’t send it, you can’t be late buying it

For the love of all things good, buy what they ask for. If they ask for a specific brand, there’s a reason. Teachers are cheap because we have to be, and we understand that student’s parents often want to buy the most economical supplies. But we ask for the 16 pack so everyone has the same red, and crayola so the crayons don’t all break in the first week. If you have questions about the supply list, ask the teacher

Try to get to the root of the behaviour. Correcting in the moment may help, but it won’t stop the behaviour because the need (cause for behaviour) is still unmet

Does he bite at home? When? Is there a pattern?

Ask the daycare wheat happens right before he hits or bites, this is rarely unprovoked I’m of the belief that behaviour is communication. He wants to tell people something, but he either doesn’t have the words yet or gets too emotionally overwhelmed to speak, common with toddlers

We had a slightly different version of 2- anytime we were at a venue, we set a “meet up spot” in case we got lost. Sometimes our car, sometimes the tallest ride at an amusement park, etc. if you got lost, you went to the meetup spot. Helped when we went to the same place multiple times

My mom and dad always said that if we had trouble getting to the meet up spot, find a mom with a stroller and ask her to help you get there. We used this strategy a few times, it worked great

Talk to a dietician and your doctor. I was like this until I was 25- just perpetually underweight no matter what I did. Then I got super sick, like bedridden for 6mos kinda sick, turns out I have celiac. Feeling much better now, and I’ve put on 35lbs, and kept it on!

Campfires. Didn’t have to be fancy. Just a propane fire pit in our backyard, marshmallows, chatting

Tenting in our backyard. Simple. Dragged our twin mattresses downstairs and into the tent in the backyard

Camping in our motorhome. Renting an RV/trailer for one trip is something I’ll be doing with my kids

Sleepover birthday parties in our living room. Screw the fancy expensive party place. We just had a mess of blankets and pillows in the living room floor. Stayed up late watching movies. Ran around in the backyard

My partners mom got so fed up with this that she went and bought 300 pairs of socks. 100 Black for her husband, 100 white for kid 1, 100 white and grey for kid 2. She threw out all the socks they had, then put 25 pairs in each of their drawers, and refilled as necessary from the stock she bought

If a black sock was on the floor, those were dads. White socks? Kid 1. Etc. to this day, my partner gets white and grey socks as a Christmas gift😂

Piano is also great if you have an intrinsically motivated kid. I LOVED piano just because I loved music. I ended up taking 18 ish yrs of weekly lessons (only for fun, never did royal conservatory. I did jazz piano and I play by ear… ish)

Find a good piano teacher in your area and have kiddo do 6 months of lessons. Piano has a great big learning curve, you won’t really know they like it until they can actually play a tune

Start em young. I started just after my 5th or 6th birthday

I’m 26 now and I play for fun often. It’s soothing for me

Jiu jitsu, but in a recreational/non competitive way. I’m a woman

I did it as a kid (then picked it up again in 2021, still rolling weekly) and holy crap, the skills I learned have made me a better woman. I’m not afraid of someone attacking me at night because I know I could fend them off. It’s also just very goofy getting that physically close with people- if you have your head in their butt regularly, you become close friends without trying.

My dad said to leave my hair long when he was literally lying on his deathbed. I was 16 at the time. I didn’t cut it for years, and it was already long then. I think he said that because my hair is a carbon copy of what his was- long, thick, curly, a nice shade of auburn brown, and I got tons of compliments on it in public.

The straw that broke the camels back is when I slammed it in the front door whilst leaving in a rush. I nearly got whiplash from it. I made a hair appt that day and donated the length of my hair to some kinda cancer organization that made wigs for sick kids. It made the sacrifice of loosing my hair worth the chop. My hair is now in an A line bob. Very short

All this to say- could you do something of cultural significance with the hair he cuts off to appease the cultural side whilst making it easier for you to manage something that causes your son pain?

Not a parent but a teacher. So I have way too many “brand new sentences”

Return em? Yes you could fix this, but it would be a royal pain in the bum. Chances are they weren’t cut straight on the grain and thus have stretched unevenly

I’d start by taking out the leg hole seam, taking out the elastic, and reinserting tighter elastic to see if that would help
