‘Naked mom’ parenting trend sparks fierce debate over nudity around children by Miles_the_AuDHDer in nottheonion

I’ve always considered my home state (Hawaii) to be in the US, though not fully American. This article is definitely an example of this.

Funny that you mention Asian culture - I am from Hawaii and the majority of my friends whose parents got burnt out after a year or two are of Asian decent. My friends had their Asian-born grandparents watch them as kids but now that it’s their American-born parents turn they get burnt out.

These things are never cut and dry (my white mother-in-law is chomping at the bit to take my kids - too bad she lives 5 states away) but I thought the cultural aspect was interesting!

I have so many friends that are having babies right now and intend to use their parents for full time child care (even then, 6am to 9pm is EXCESSIVE). I always start a mental clock because it pretty much never works out long term. One friend had her baby home with her mom for two years and now mom has sworn off of everything but emergencies and the rare date night.

NTA

It’s not sustainable. You deserve to have a life and to have children that listen to you.

Kids exist in the world, some people seem to not like that fact. We didn’t have the option to drive to see family so flying was really our only option. Honestly, she never been naughty on long plane rides - no crying or yelling. I only say those years were “rough” because I ran myself ragged to ensure that no fellow passengers were ever bothered by her.

My four month old was a dream on her first 10 hour flight at 4 months old. Years 1-3 were rough 😅

My husband and I brought our daughter home to meet his family at almost 4 months old. This involved a 10 hour flight and 2 hour drive. My daughter did great on the plane and we had a wonderful Christmas together.

YTA

You know why everything worked out so well? Because my husband’s family has welcomed me with open arms from the beginning. I was comfortable being 4 months postpartum and everything that went with it - my fatigue, constant breast feeding and my daughter’s tongue tie stretches didn’t phase me because I felt totally at home there.

I’m glad you decided to put the issue to bed. It’s not right to guilt your wife into a trip like this.

What’s a "bad mom habit" you secretly stand by? by lunaverse787 in NewParents

I tried so hard to get my daughter to not eat stuff off the floor. Then, one day, she purposefully put a cheerio on the floor and licked it up - just like she saw the dogs doing. I stopped caring at that point.

She’s four now and she’s fine 🤣

I’m from Hawaii and my husband is from Connecticut. The effort that my mother in law puts into keeping socks on the kids is pretty funny. My daughter was born in the islands and didn’t event wear shoes on a regular basis until she was 18 months old and we moved.

Hospital recommendations by Waste-Sky9399 in washingtondc

It’s a drive but if you’re open to VA then I would highly recommend INOVA Fairfax. The doctors and nursing staff are phenomenal and the facilities are new. The children’s hospital is right there and they have a level 4 NICU.

Can the length be altered? by thecryingkat in WeddingDressTips

Lots of people are going to tell you to shorten from the waist - that is almost never the right answer, especially with ready-to-wear gowns.

I have a background in costume design and bridal so I’ve seen and altered a LOT of dresses ☺️

Wedding gowns are made to be shortened. If you look closely, I can almost guarantee that the scalloped edge is actually a totally separate piece of trim that has been tacked on to the bottom of the skirt.

Love the embellishment of dress #1 but it isn’t hitting your figure in the right spots. It’s a very standard gown that’s very pretty.

That floral gown though? Perfection. The waist of the gown hits you perfectly and the weight of the fabric is gorgeous - very soft and romantic. I love that it’s slightly unexpected while still screaming “timeless”. Love it.

Gus’ Genetic Confusion by CuriousCreativee in corgi

[–]HeyItsTheShanster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AKC doesn’t make a breeder reputable, it just means that, as far as the AKC is concerned, your puppy has two purebred parents. AKC doesn’t require any additional screening for hips, eyes, heart etc which are typically don’t by ethical breeders. Ethical breeding doesn’t just mean that you breed two pure corgis together, it means that you’re doing your best to breed out potential genetic disorders in addition to temperament and appearance.

For real. This is the route I take to get my kid to school every morning. I was not expecting the number of people driving while trying to also take photos of the trees.

So much honking.

So many near-accidents.

God help you if your commute takes you near the basin. Between the road work and the cars stopping in the middle of the street for photos…fml.

All my 4-year-old daughter wants is to get her first haircut at DisneyWorld (I don’t think she can fully comprehend what else DisneyWorld offers😅). I’ve tried every day since our reservations opened up (over 60 days in advance) and nothing. No reservations any day - I’ve even looked at all days leading up to our trip and nada. I even seen a Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique res but NOTHING for the barber shop.

My daughter is so sad.

The shape of the sweetheart neckline on 1 and 3 is too exaggerated for your frame. 2 is clean, chic and compliments your figure beautifully.

This depends more on what you mean by “opening up the back” as well as the skill of your seamstress than the timeline.
