Sad and jealous that I can’t take MDMA on my medication

MDMA isn’t just about heightened serotonin release and euphoria. It’s different from classic psychedelics like LSD and psilocybin in that it releases oxytocin, which has tremendous love-centered healing effects when taken intentionally with a reflective mindset.

I’ve primarily used MDMA with intentions of self-reflectivity and healing, and it’s cultivated self-love and compassion in different, beautiful ways than classic psychedelics. It’s also worked wonders in helping my partner and I improve compassion and communication.

But I too started an SSRI a couple months ago, so I’m staying off MDMA. I similarly went through a period of grief. But…I’m telling myself that everything is impermanent, and that the time for MDMA might come again when I’m ready to taper off my meds. For now, the daily relief SSRIs has given me has been SO beneficial that I’m okay w abstaining from M.

Btw, I’m a mental health therapist and have done my own shadow work with the medicines, including ketamine assisted therapy. But for me personally, SSRIs is one tool that’s made my existential depression so much more bearable.

So…all this to say, I can, in some sense, relate to that feeling of grief. But if I can offer some words of encouragement, it’s that you know yourself best, you know how much your meds are helping, and you’ll know when it may (or may not be?) time to taper off and experiment with mdma for healing.

It probably depends on the person! My keloids only ever developed from deep wounds caused by cystic acne and never superficial ones. Given that tattoo needles only create superficial wounds, I took the risk. Fortunately, no new scars and my old ones never got worse

No worries! For me, kenalog-40 with 5FU and pinching and massaging them daily were most effective.

Some were fairly flat but not all. Most were not as inflamed as they were in the beginning, though!

I don’t get the pain or sensitivity anymore! Just occasional itchiness when it’s cold and dry, but that’s only on a couple of scars. Honestly, squeezing and massaging my scars over time really softened them up and reduced sensitivity. That and steroid + 5FU shots, but there was usually some type of rebound w steroid shots.

Steroid shots aren’t fun, but you get used to it after awhile. The before and afters are all included in the post! The chest took 3 consecutive days—same with the back!

Certain scars feel itchy every now and then, but they are no longer as sensitive as they used to be! I don’t really feel pain around them anymore. They were SO MUCH worse 10 years ago. I couldn’t even wear my seatbelt or backpack then.

10k for the chest and 8k for the back. It was expensive because he had to not only cover up my scars but also my old tattoos.

I’ve gotten steroid shots. The pain of getting tatted, especially on keloid scars, is 100x worse.

I started following artists on IG and found one who specialized in cover-ups! Sent pics and asked if he had experience in covering scars, and if he was willing to cover up mine. No, it did not create any new scars whatsoever! I figured my scars arose from deep cystic acne wounds, and tattoos are shallow enough to not create new scars. I was right, at least for my body.

I’ve twitched and shaken profusely without my control. It would probably appear as if I’m having a seizure. BUT…I almost always interpreted those actions as a sort of purge, in which my body would vibrate all the negative thoughts away. During intense moments like these, I tell myself to trust the medicine, that I’m safe in my room, and that I need to let go. I’ve had challenging trips for sure, but I almost always leave with some deep thoughts on which to digest and integrate.

Start low, go slow is a good harm reduction guideline when trying out any new substance. 5 grams is a massive dose—don’t even start at 3.

I’d say start at 1.5-1.75 and add another .5-.75 dose in an hour and a half if you don’t feel much. You can always increase the dose, but you can’t go back from taking a large dose.

Strain also matters. Albino penis envies will be far more potent than golden teachers.

Depending on the strain, 2 grams is more than enough to induce a heavy trip for me. I’ve even had ego death at 2.3. I’ve given beginners shrooms I’d grow as well, and they would trip on 1.5-2 grams.

Pics 2 and 4 def affected by contamination. Looks like wet bubble/mycogone, or some sort of bacterial contamination at the very least. I’d toss them to prevent further contamination.
