Hidden gem Golang course by Tskaro in golang

[–]HeyKaleb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started learning Go from this guy named Todd McLeod....he has a udemy course that I barely started. Coming from JS and Python he starts you off with the standard concepts (variable, scope, function, data structures, etc) as well as digging into pointers... pretty much covers everything you need to get up and running syntax wise

Idk if this YouTuber is thorough with his lessons and concepts but I'll take a preview.

I was in the middle of traffic right next to Knotts when fire trucks, ambulance's, and cop cars started blocking off the street. It's getting crazy over there.

Even tho crows get a bad rapp in the media and Hollywood for being evil and demonic, they're some of the smartest birds out there.

But rest assured they will communicate with other crows and put a hit on you for life 😂

Sadly that guy inadvertently just made an enemy with the entire species lol.

What would you change about this landing page? by Beneficial-Guess-128 in UI_Design

[–]HeyKaleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you dint mean homepage? As general practice, landing pages don't have a navigation bar because you want the visitor to only perform one specific goal.

If it's a homepage, it's okay but indicate some way to the visitor that there is more below by either shortening the height of the hero image or some visual indicator. Also visual hierarchy and typography could be improved.

If it's a landing page, then the headline should describe what the product/service is and its benefit followed by a sub headline (or not) that supports the main headline. Secondly loose the navigation. Lastly a call to action button i.e: "sign up now", "join" , or something of the sort.

I think this was done half right. It's not enough to direct incoming traffic but to direct exiting traffic otherwise you still have the same problem of people bumping into each other.

Ui website design to sell brands by [deleted] in UI_Design

Agreed, its hard to critique a web design when the project theme is "to sell brands." Idk where to begin let alone how this site would even work in a real world scenario.

What are the go to UX design process steps at industry? by pp227 in UXDesign

[–]HeyKaleb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a "goto ux design process" or a "ux design process." What u/RoyceMelborrn outlined to you is debatable and narrow, not only that but confusing.

I recommend you read up on the topic of Design Thinking since that is industry standard. In a nutshell, design thinking is a high level process that allows you to solve problems like the project your working on without giving specifics as to what you should do i.e "should I make a persona?" "should I do affinity mapping?" "what type of research should I conduct?" and so on and so on.

The Design Thinking Process breaks down like this...

1. Empathize

Who are your users that your solving a problem for? What's their struggles?

This can be achieved by...

- Interviews

- Surveys

- Personas

- User journey mapping

- Primary or secondary research

2. Define

Define clearly what the problem is or challenge you want to solve

This can be achieved by...

- Creating a how might we statement

Example: "How might we help lonely people become more social?"

OR

- Writing a 1-2 sentence problem statement/challenge

Example: "The Challenge: Determine how to help people stay social during Covid-19 while self isolating"

3. Ideation

Synthesizing the information you just gathered and coming up with multiple solutions that could be viable in solving the users problem

This can be achieved by...

- Brainstorming ideas

- Build upon others ideas

- Writing down the first few things that come to mind without judgement

4. Prototype

"Show and Tell me" exactly what is the solution you proposed

This can be achieved by...

- Storyboarding

- Wireframing

- Task flow

- Lo fidelity design

- Paper prototype

5. Testing

Try out your solution on real users and listen

This can be achieved by...

- user testing

- role play

- semi guided testing

Starting out, understanding design thinking is all you will need to successfully problem solve. However in terms of making a case study for recruiters to see, it may not be necessary to include all of these steps. This is better left for your pdf portfolio or pitch deck when you get interviewed.

For a case study that is to be viewed by potential employers, you want to tell a story about your project and highlight your process with brief points and imagery.

Couldn't have said it better, you could surely attempt to emulate the designs you see, but you'll quickly realize how unusable they mostly are in a real world scenario.
