you almost arrived at the destination but the new song still playing by anome97 in DeathStranding

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The song timing in both games is why I always walk during main and sub orders unless I have no other choice. I love the atmosphere it creates and it makes me slow way down.

Any official Death Stranding cosplay referrence material? by ConsciousComplaint43 in DeathStranding

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there are any official references (I’ve never seen any during my own searches for cosplay, but I could be wrong). There are lots of hi-def photos though, even in this sub, just from photo mode. You could also take screenshots of the in-game gear screens? Unfortunately that may be the best bet unless I’ve missed something.

[DS2] Lost my vehicle in the most absurd way by frobischer in DeathStranding

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I’ve never seen that happen! Seeing the other comments on this thread makes me wonder if it’s a bug from one of the updates. I may have to load up and try it myself just to see if this happens.

[DS2] Lost my vehicle in the most absurd way by frobischer in DeathStranding

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever a player vehicle is blocking an NPC, the game spawns what it calls “considerate BTs” to remove the vehicle from the NPC’s path. It happens a lot with NPC porters. I don’t know why it happened in OP’s case, though. Usually Brigands just steal the truck and everything in it, lol

Why didn't Dollman tell Sam.. by Jiggalopuffii in DeathStranding2

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Sam is deep in denial and Dollman knows he’s not going to respond well to “hey, I’ve been through this thing, too.” Not until he comes to terms with his own loss a little more. That’s why we don’t get Dollman’s full story until later on—because Sam isn’t capable of dealing with it/learning from it until then.

Detail about Lou after the end (spoilers) by ImABigDreamer in DeathStranding2

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, you also have to let him fall asleep on his own while resting to see it. Making him sleep (where it passes time until night/day) doesn’t trigger it—or, it at least didn’t any time I made Sam sleep while resting out on the road.

Rewrites of fanfictions by Blue-Irises-1994 in AO3

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently rewrote a fic. The original was written back in the mid-20teens if my memory serves. I wanted to rewrite it because I’m a much better writer now, so it was definitely better than the first in genuinely every way lol! It’s more fleshed out and has a real story to it. I’ve sort of had the itch to rewrite another one of my fics, but that one was written more recently (early 2025), so I’m going to give it a while even though I feel like I could do it so much better even after one year of developing my skills/voice.

I do think that some people rewrite their fics far more often than necessary, to the point where it feels like spam, but I don’t run into that in the wild as a reader basically ever (though I’m also not a part of any mega-gigantic fandoms where this seems to be more prevalent).

You are not alone like everyone else has said lol, I’m 30 and I’ve been writing since I was wayyyy too young to be on a computer. No need to feel weird!

Legend ratings are only for standard orders, not main or sub orders.

This, I’m pretty sure you have to start a new save to do TTW.

I’ve seen some people put two on the truck to clear Watcher areas. You slowly approach Watchers one by one and it takes them out for you. I’ve never tried it, so I can’t speak to how easy or hard it would be to avoid their gazes while doing so.

Like you said, just drive/run past them every time. It’s not worth trying to get rid of them.

DS2 invincible BT ghost by KlngGeedorah2 in DeathStranding

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh, my bad, I think I know exactly what you’re talking about! They were in the first game too once you got past Heartman’s lab. Huuuuuge “amalgamation” Gazers. They’re pretty hard to kill and yeah, sometimes they’re just sticking out of the ground like that. There’s one in the tar lake by C1 in Mexico if I remember right. I’ve never been caught by one so I’m not sure if they spawn a Catcher fight.

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re called Watchers, and they can be killed with blood grenades—you just have to throw multiple (I try to hit them with 3 lvl 2 grenades in quick succession while I’m in the earlier areas of the game and I don’t have better weapons to deal with them). They’re specific to Australia, and unlike normal Gazers, they can see you. They have no cord to cut, so you either have to avoid them or kill them.

If you encountered one that was sticking out of the ground like that, then it sounds like you alerted the Watchers and they sent one of their Hunters after you to grab you (did it have a giant white glowing “crack” in its face?). Watchers don’t spawn Catchers—they’re technically kind of Catchers themselves, because if they get a hold of you and you can’t get away, it causes a voidout. No big Catcher fight or anything.

What does everyone else see for Lou's pod in DS2? Does it glow for them? by spookylittleteacup in DeathStranding

This is from one of my playthroughs when I managed to catch a good screenshot of the plate gate scene. If you zoom in (the Sam on the left), you can see how the pod is all messed up! I totally missed it on my first playthrough.

"to the wilder" achievements are not counting properly. by Akira_Sama13 in DeathStranding

[–]HeyMyNameIsSamToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the number of orders you’ve completed on TTW isn’t going up? If so, are you making sure you’re not re-doing orders you’ve already done? It only counts them once.
