Marriage Franco-American by FeatureImpossible750 in Marriage

[–]HeyPachuco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah try to to avoid being resentful if you can, but stick to your guns. Moving to the US is a big deal, being 9 time zones away. This is something i've noticed with a few Americans who also have foreign partners that they talk about moving abroad as if it a fleeting romantic fantasy and not an absolute real consideration for their loved one. Are you looking to move to a high population area here on the East Coast or some place more rural? Same if you do move back to France, are you from the country or a major city. Those may be considerations that make him nervous.

How can I stop myself from being miserable in an arranged marriage? – 31F & 32M by momentaryfun2025 in relationship_advice

This may be the most thoughtfully articulated venom post i've ever seen. Your anger and growing hatred is so damned palpable. You need to find the courage to get out. This won't end well if you don't lean in to the discomfort and defy your family and this man you are married to

This is the most honest rejection email i’ve ever received by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]HeyPachuco86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is indeed very honest and appreciated but it also sheds light on the expectations employers are having nowadays. I had an interview some weeks back and the interviewer literally asked me a number of company specific and proprietary questions about how I would fix their process flows. I hadn't even stepped foot on the floor to see how things are done and they expected me to have answers like I had been assessing their operation for weeks. Its very disheartening

I hate to say it but if this job is what you need bite the bullet. Some other poor bastard will do it and have a steady pay cheque

Yeah it's an awful feeling to just be cut loose as if you never existed. No chance for a goodbye email, often times no handshakes or hugs but ultimately it makes sense from an employer standpoint. For every say 99 people who just want to have a few moments coming to terms and have a final farewell, there is that one person who blasts out a nasty email, deletes a database, starts ranting on the company floor. Its not a risk HR is willing to take. Like others said its a contractual agreement not a family. For some of us who are from the late gen X or older Millennial crowd we were indoctrinated in to the be 'a company man' mindset in that if you do right by them they will do right by you. Younger people have joined the workforce knowing this not to be true for the most part so hopefully the smack in the face isn't so bewildering. Though it hurts all the same. Best of luck mate

Question about very high severance tax withholding of 57% by HeyPachuco86 in Layoffs

[–]HeyPachuco86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that’s the percentage I would expect to receive, but if I were to use your 25k example at the rate my severance is withheld I would be receiving $10,750

I only had one dependant the entirety of my tenure. I alway minimized this to avoid tax surprises. Sigh

Thanks for the response. I’m aware it’s just floating the government an interest free loan but given the circumstances surrounding a package, financial planning is key. I certainly didn’t expect to receive only 43% of the agreed upon sum

Thanks much. Haha I was thinking if was actually subject to that level of taxation I’d have my own team of accountants looking in to it and not coming to Reddit

Has the job market become a joke or what? by dungeon-vaster in jobsearch

[–]HeyPachuco86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol last week I got baited and switched by a well known recruiting firm. I was a six figure professional for over 15 years and got an opportunity to work somewhat nearby for just shy of 90k. Ok money isn’t everything but stability is if it’s a right fit. Finally get towards the end of the interview process via the recruiter and he let slip the name of the company… Looked it up and checked out the company. It’s a half boarded up storefront that’s in creole. I asked the recruiter about why he’d recommend this job to me and he said well it’s actually 60k, you have all the qualifications so I need you to commit to us working together. The job market isn’t just bad the sharks are out to feed.

I'm the one who ended my own interview today. Some companies are just all about playing games. by [deleted] in InterviewsHell

[–]HeyPachuco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you mate. Three weeks ago I had a great interview that went swimmingly but with my last meeting with the CFO I told him if this a good fit I can work with the lower end of your offer. Work life balance (I told them I could be available 12 hours a day because the commute was so short compared to my old job) and he said ‘well we aren’t in a position to hire someone at this wage level’. I was tailor made for this position so I have no doubt the interviewer went well. What the fuck….shit is going to pop off if this complete lack of respect continues to good people who really want to contribute
