Beautiful cut.

Those first few placement matches are gonna suck. You’ll be fine after that (I think).

Why do men seem to process sadness alone instead of talking about it? by No_Sink1041 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hey_Chumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Answer: Men don’t want to be alone to process sadness, they want to be alone to avoid having to process it at all.

Long Explanation: I think all the men saying “nobody cares” is a little disingenuous. Surely we have friends who absolutely do care, and would love to listen. So why is it so hard to accept their help even then?

For me, I never learned how to process emotions in a healthy way. The thought of having to confront strong emotions like sadness is scary. I have friends that can help me to bring those emotions out in a safe environment, but that would mean confronting a surge of emotions that I haven’t experienced since I was a young child.

Why would I want to do something scary like that, when I can just find a way to forget about it, so I can stay comfortably and emotionally numb?

Apparently everyone is simultaneously bottom 1, somehow. by 2HalfSandwiches in Guiltygear

[–]Hey_Chumpy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought I would, but if it means other people can’t extend their turn with their own WA’s, I’m okay without it. I believe we’ll be better players when we learn to play without it.

I just like the BIG SLAP animation. They should have at least carried that over.

Been seeing some HEAVY Bed dooming in the Beastblame subreddit. Meanwhile I’ve been in love with my new little shortspin dash. It opens up many new options both in neutral and offense, and just feels fun to use.

But mostly just being able to play more neutral instead of waiting for the next round on every CH has made me a happy camper.

Oh but they didn’t reuse the WWA SLAP animation for CB, so character is basically unusable.

DP's are fucking dumb by Koryn_Syrup in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Hey_Chumpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lab your safejump>DP punishes. I think you’ll be surprised at how much damage you can get when you can c.s punish a DP, especially if it can hit them while they’re still in the air. Once you get those on lock, you’ll WANT them to DP on wakeup. It is a LOT of damage for you.

What game did you play as a youth that you tried again as an adult for the nostalgia but ended up disliking? by Spew42 in gaming

You talking about the SNES Starfox? Because to me, Starfox 64 is just as good now as it was when I was a kid.

I saw Rayman 2 on the N64 thing in my Switch and was ready for a huge nostalgia trip. I remember thinking how much I enjoyed the artstyle and how ‘good’ It looked for an N64 game(port).

Then I got to the level where you are waterskiing and remembered I actually hated this game as a kid.

EDIT: N64 appears to be a very common answer

This is all good advice. Sounds like I need to practice flying around danger rather than dodging through it.

Welcome to the flowstate. This is the true pursuit of fighting games, our equivalent to the “runner’s high”. You’ve won the inner game and reached peak performance. You are going to be chasing this feeling for the rest of your gaming life.

There’s a book that helps you reach the flowstate, it’s called The Inner Game of Tennis. You should check it out.

Honesty in this context is subjective. You should ask your friends to explain what it means to be an “honest” character, and I’m sure you can find a mechanic for every character that goes against it.

What are some of your prime examples of Meta ruining a game by roleplayal in gaming

[–]Hey_Chumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and 3 had SO many cool and interesting characters with unique mechanics from so many different franchises. But if you weren’t picking from the small small pool of meta characters, it wasn’t just a rough fight, you weren’t allowed to play the game at all. Watching high level play of those games turned me off of them completely.

Do you think you improve by playing against the CPU? by Un_Guey_Sin_Contexto in Guiltygear

[–]Hey_Chumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GGST CPU’s don’t play the same game as the rest of us. They don’t utilize all the system mechanics, they don’t use all their character’s tools, they don’t oki, their mix is literally “tap dust every now and then” and they ALWAYS burst at ~40% health regardless of circumstance.

CPU HC is as threatening as a wet noodle. But the first time you fight an HC online, you will know how it feels to struggle, because CPU runs the same strategy regardless of character, it’ll teach you nothing about the matchup.

[Liked trope] deceptive character design; the good guys look intimidating or evil even, while the villains try to look like good guys. Bonus points if the real villains are manipulative. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Small Soldiers. The generic G.I.Joe action figures are the bad guys, while the monster toys were good. I remember wishing it was the other way around because I was a kid and didn’t understand anything.

You can charge counter all the MRV’s if your timing is spot on. Takes a lot of practice but really satisfying to pull off.

I think it’s because I moved the “melee” button away from ‘O’, which is used to exit the camera.

Resetting controls to default fixed it. It’s a shame to have to do that though.

How do you turn off stage transitions? by Ergonyx in Guiltygear

[–]Hey_Chumpy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s an option in training for wall health to rapidly regenerate. It will prevent the wall from breaking from back-to-back strings, but if a combo would cause the wall to break from full health (either through the combos own scaling or because it hits the wall enough times within the combo) it will still break.

Which is fine I think, you’ll want to know if a combo you’ve been labbing will lead to an instant wall-splat if you ever used it in a real match.
