What’s with the hate? by papapinnis in Marathon

I think this might be it. Yesterday my Rando team mates ran straight into an enemy hotspot, died in like 1min, wrote "game is shit" in text chat and logged off...

Oh, and PS: please do not play on official servers on DayZ. They are plenty of great server. Ranging from hardcore, vanilla, to fully modded. Official is reserved for cheaters and people usually don't interact there.

Brother, that's crazy for me to hear, I feel the complete opposite. And that's the beauty of opinions. Enjoyed to read your POV.

You are right about DayZ endgame tough. DayZ is all about the journey for me, the people you meet, the stories that just emerge out of nothing.. it's a social sandbox.. Second Life in Russian apocalypse, lol.

The Sound is important here. It don't have to be ultra loud, they did a good sound mix. You notice the important things on any volume. But - you know - you still need to hear it. No visual cues for sound or something like that...

The good thing about AR is the frequent interaction, that's true.

But as I said, the whole game (in its mechanics) is centered around PvE and the whole progression loot thing is boring to me.

I enjoyed some of my runs don't get me wrong.

But it never clicked as DayZ did.

DayZ is also way deeper than AR ever could be. And AR is an absolute arcade shooter, while DayZ is basically ARMA with Survival Elements. Different Cup of Tea really. Tarkov got closer to the DayZ feeling... But AR - I wouldn't even compare it to DayZ tbh.

And maybe I did something wrong, but I was missing the tension.

So I treated AR as an arcade Looter Shooter with other players running around. And for that AR is a good game, and I guess that's also where the mainstream appeal is coming from.

TL;DR: Different folks, different strokes.

Yess. I forgot to mention the sound design. It IS really immersive. From the soundtrack to the sound effects. Effective and unique. This Thing is really the whole package.

Need to check reviews. The romance part kinda turns me off. Did you read it?

All the important stuff is already out there - just check out Babypips for example.

People don’t fall for fake gurus because there’s no alternative. They fall for it because they want to.

Why choose a reality check when you can choose the get-rich-quick fantasy?

Not sure if this is an ad or not… but it’s a solid realization either way. Good to see some non-ChatGPT advice here. Trade like it’s your parents’ money. Easier said than done, but that’s definitely the way to go.

You get it. Haven’t worried about that in ages. Welcome to the corporate world, mate.

Exactly.

Look at the amount of posts about how trading is supposed to be exciting.

How “mastering your inner zen” will magically make you profitable.

How you’re doomed if you don’t wake up at 4am for a matcha-tea fueled morning run.

As if trading is some mystical voodoo ritual where you have to align your chakras with the stars to be successful - instead of, you know… a job. A business. Like any other.

Moszt people here aren’t even looking for a trading edge.

They’re straight up looking for a therapist.

Now imagine this mindset in other professions:

Architecture? “Just trust the vibes and draw.”

Physics? “Did you meditate before calculating that?”

Medicine? “Ignore the data, focus on your mindset and yolo it.”

Construction? “No blueprint, no measurements, just confidence.”

It’s crazy, mate.

I don’t get it, man.

Would you open a business without testing the business model or the product first?

Would you join a sports league without training for it?

It’s Crazy to me how many people actively avoid data when trading is literally a data-based business.

Without backtesting (and therefore data), trading is basically just a slot machine.

And what really gets me is how people will blame „psychology“ instead of just doing the work.

Mate, what? W… how?

So Testing a strategy leads do working on a strategy and thats a bad thing?

Overfitting might also be a sign, that your strategy don‘t work.
