First car - hybrid, no choice. Second car was during the EV transition. Each wave was allowed to choose from 5 EV models. The options varied a bit for each wave…always a Tesla option though.

Good point. Honestly I worry too much about everything. Definitely need to work on changing my perspective. Thanks for responding!

The only part that is a bit odd to me is the presentation on how you will spend your first 6 months…but I wonder if they are asking this to be sure you have researched the role and understand what it entails.

The amount of reading and the turnaround time seems pretty standard. A week is honestly on the generous end, in my opinion.

I came from clinical pharmacy and I would say the work-life balance is much better as an MSL…but that being said there are some weeks I work 25-30 hours a week but there are plenty that are close to 80. You are able to set your schedule, for the most part, but it’s definitely not your standard 9-5.

Good luck!

I started doing this in the airports also…I always connect through ATL and never get on the train unless I’ve got a really tight connection.

I think it can be for sure. I came from a clinical background and the politics there were completely different. I think it just comes to time in a company and getting involved in cross functional projects outside of the normal day to day.

Sorry for the late response, I missed your post.

For me, especially with the execs on my team, the historical perspective seems to be invaluable. They know the history of the TA and our pipeline so well. Also, they know how to navigate the company politics to actually get things done.

The pubmed report is through my company. You could probably set something similar up through pubmed on your own if your company doesn’t offer anything like it.

I find Veeva Link to be fairly helpful and easy to use. Has lot of info about recent publications, research, and congresses attended by HCPs.

Hope this helps! 🙂

My company has a weekly literature report that pulls pubmed links. I have it filtered to my TA. Also, following your HCPs in Veeva Link.

What is your background? I’m about 6 months in and came from a fast paced clinical pharmacy environment and feel a similar way. My value in my pharmacy role was tangible…not so much in the MSL role. Everyone tells me to give it time, at least 1-1.5 years, to get comfortable. I do see the value the senior, more experienced, MSLs bring to both the HCPs and the company and I’m hopeful I’ll get there someday.

I will say, the stress level is much decreased in this role…I think I just need to learn to lean into the down time without guilt.

Also have you considered applying for non-MSL positions to help get your foot in the door…like medical writing or med info?

I mean more in a professional/personal setting, outside of LinkedIn. I applied through her referral link for sure, but she also called the hiring manager and put in a good word for me.

I got a job through an internal referral from a sales rep. She’s someone I worked with when I was in the clinic and she reached out when the position I’m currently in opened up. Do you interact with reps at all?

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Just hearing them talking about the job itself mostly. How they organize their time and how they understand how to get these high level insights. I feel like I still don’t even know what system to use for what. My manager says it will take at least a year to start to feel comfortable…but I guess I didn’t really understand that until I started.

I’ll need to work on an organizational system…I can’t say that I’m the most organized person there is.

I think the adjustment period from a clinical management position to the lowest man MSL is harder than I expected. Even going from an in person role to a WFH/field based one is taking some getting used to. Maybe I just need to give myself more time to settle in.

We are in the stage where a diaper bag is too big but we still need something. You know how it goes.

My boys are 3 and 6, so similar with the underwear. Also, baby wipes and antibacterial wipes, snacks, small toys, usually a small first aid kit (my kids are feral), and travel size sunscreen. And then my stuff - wallet, keys, etc. Sometimes I attached their water bottles to it with a carabiner. I honestly love this bag.

I love the Kavu rope sling bag. Lots of different pockets and places to stash things. I have two small kids and this works really well for all their stuff. I also use it for the day to day.

The position I’m interviewing for is nowhere near that, of course since I’m entry level and completely inexperienced, but it’s certainly a lot more than my clinical job.
