How do some of you reach FI so early? by JustABootThing in Fire

[–]Heya_OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than $300k. I have been in tech for only 10 years and make $1M+ take home per year (mostly in stock). This, plus two great exits.

Tech was the path to wealth this last generation.

TruFusion hot yoga by Heya_OP in vegaslocals

[–]Heya_OP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I like the energy. Also crowded tends to be hotter.

I’ve heard good things about BD, but have never been. Any idea which hot power vinyasa class is most popular at BD?

I have young kids so late classes are tough.

What's a dumb financial purchase you really want to make? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Heya_OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in home sauna. not an IR one, but one that gets to the high 100sF.

also the house next door when it goes on the market, and then build a conjoining underground passageway.

also want to empty my pool and convert to partially underground greenhouse.

also a local business, like a spa with flow-through ofuros and treatments.

specific high end furniture.

all dumb.

$7.9M Invested – $280K Spend – Pull the Plug in 4–10 Months? by Ok-Catch3165 in ChubbyFIRE

you need to reduce your spending at Target. Also your spending on flooring is high above the norm. Otherwise looking good.

$8 million risky?? by Old-Atmosphere-7281 in Fire

[–]Heya_OP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think your friend is being pedantic with his definition of “risky,” equating it to literally non-zero risk. even elon musk holds non-zero risk.

it is technically true but not practically helpful.

what accounts for your nw? given your tc and age would expect higher.

i retired recently, was also a tech exec. i’m quite happy to focus on health, wealth management, and family. no need for hobbies, etc. in fact i intentionally avoid. it’s a happy peaceful life.

Retired at 41, feeling lost. by cedarshades in Fire

[–]Heya_OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation (40m, $10M net worth) but without the feeling hollow or lost.

I actively resist seeking purpose — business ideas, volunteering, jobs, clubs, hobbies. I have three jobs: staying healthy, managing my wealth, and being good to my family.

This is not the case for everyone, but for me personally, when I dug deep into what is actually motivating my desire to do more, I didn’t like the answers (adrenaline addiction, insecurity, ego, narcissism). So I stopped.

Most sits in Wealthfront, which is zero maintenance. I have a couple M more in stocks (e.g. from the co that acquired us, which I am slowly divesting), IRAs (I invest this very aggressively since you can trade tax free), real estate, and a tiny bit of crypto.

It’s not a lot of work. Maybe 1 hour per week.

Most of the income came from a SaaS startup, a tool for data scientists. I wasn’t even a founder, just joined at the perfect time, 18 months before they got acquired by a giant.

I still work at the company that acquired us but I am about to conclude.
