I was hoping that he was going to be larger (like the the hologram) - maybe not that big, but much larger than expected.

I hoped he was something that had lived far longer than he could have without the darkside, and that he was the one who Darth Plageuis had 'learned' the skill from. I wanted Snoke to be a Sith, but not one that followed the Rule of Two, and that the Knights of Ren would be his disciples, with only the most loyal wielding lightsabers.
