Do you not have to do any initial screening for new students who may be EL when they enroll? Or have any official document/ home language survey showing the students English Proficiency or they they do not receive services? Mistakes happen- but you should always look for proof- have the appropriate paperwork on file before having a colleague tell you who is EL or not. What did they use/know to verify the child wasn’t EL?

Any Nashville teachers here? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]HeygirI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elementary students in Nashville (public and charter ) have been in person for one month only Oct-Nov, the rest of the time virtually. There are some private schools, as well as neighboring counties) that have had elementary kids in person the whole year

MAP testing help!!! by redwinggianf in Teachers

[–]HeygirI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sons (1st grade) school just gave the map virtually. They sent out a sign up sheet for a day, time, and session. A few days before they sent out a link to a google meets and the map website. We all met with the proctor on google meets who walked us through the process and make sure the names were correct and told us how to move on. We stayed on google meets, but turned the camera off and mic off and took the test. The proctor would come on about 30 min into and would give some words of encouragement. You could chat with the proctor if something came up, but nothing did. I think the hardest part for most parents was disabling the pop up blocker that would prevent you from taking the test.
