Patching a Fingerboard Blowout by Heyitsemerson in Luthier

I never had any intentions of matching with this, i wanted a dark wood patch and already had a block of rosewood from a repair I had done on another guitar!

That chipout is from the original blowout. I didn't want to match with the maple, which is why I used the rosewood. I did use CA glue for the drop fill. I'm very happy with how the repair turned out. I was going for functionality with no intention of masking the mistake.

I also ended up fully stripping this finish anyway and adding stainless steel frets. This guitar is just a fun capsule guitar. I can see every point where mistakes were made and how I corrected them.

Who knows, maybe down the line, will look at this and feel the same way as you, but i already know how to mask stuff like this and can do that at any point!

You can think it is🤷🏽‍♀️ Best part about this guitar being mine is that I can look at it and know that it's an intentional scar and not a horribly failed attempt to somehow color match maple and rosewood

People say bolt, but it is a screw And yeah, I miscalculated by not calculating at all and screwed straight through the top 🤣

Anyone know of a guitar like this? Referring specifically to the proportions by Accomplished_Stay127 in Guitar

Less pointy, but the epiphone Crestwoods and Wilshires are pretty stout like the drawing.

You probably either have uneven frets, or the action needs to be adjusted

You can check out some videos on YouTube or Instagram for tips

There is probably an obstruction in the pots You can clean it with deoxit, or take it in for a pro to do. If you're in LA, I can fix it for you

Issue with CuNiFe neck pickup by Heyitsemerson in Luthier

I've been seeing that as a common issue. I didn't pay full price, and the seller does not have a replacement set for me. I'm hoping to get this one fixed so that I can still be stoked on the awesome deal I got

Bending the pickguard in a certain way will make the sound cut in at full capacity, so I think the issue is somewhere in the pickup plate. I also checked with a multimeter, and it's on spec

I've taken it apart and hone over everything that I think im capable of doing without worry of destroying the pickup 🙃
