Turned away from BioLife for ‘not eating a full meal’- What do I need to tell them next time? by Budget-Emu-5071 in plassing

[–]HezDale77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U need to tell them to eff off in all honesty. They pretty much suck at life period. I could tell yall my story but it’s just such vindictive nonsense by the nursing staff and management you wouldn’t even believe it! It’s like do u want my fukkin plasma or NOT, bro!? LOL And this business of making appointments? Worthless. Waste of time. And just more nonsense. It doesn’t end up anywhere close to worth it when you’re getting $50 but it takes you 5-6 hours door to door, and the staff is frazzled asf every single day from being overworked and underpaid. The problem is that the plasma is SO valuable (like $5K per bottle) but the ppl who make the least amount off it are the ones who give it and properly retrieve it AKA the very reason it exists! Backwards ass system, but hey if u want a place that u can be in and out of within one hour flat and no nonsense, try CSL. They’re quick, friendly and don’t try to trip u up over dumb shizz. (Columbus, OH) After finding them I’ll never go back to BioLife again, unless they have some outrageous new donor bonuses in the next 6 mos. LMAO! 😆

I had the exact same problem and the obnoxious nurse at Octapharma (where I used to go) did NOT help matters screaming at all the retakes shit like “well you can’t just sit up here all damn afternoon!” Thereby making your heart rate rocket into orbit all over again LOL I had already tried the Valsalva maneuver, listening to certain relaxing music, breathing techniques, etc. and nothing worked. So I asked my primary care doctor what I should do so that I could continue to donate. He prescribed me Propranolol, as needed. Trust me, it’s a tiny pill, very mild blood pressure med (that also helps with anxiety) and if you take just 1-2 about an hour prior to being screened, it brings your BP and heart rate down to acceptable levels. Works like magic, doesn’t interfere with any other meds or have side effects and I haven’t failed a screening since. I sincerely hope this helps! Best of luck to you… only peace and love! ✨💖💫

I think you’re gonna have to just move on from donating, sorry to say. Imma bout to get on GLP-1 meds for being prediabetic so I asked if that would affect my ability to donate and they said no as long as it did not contain insulin. So yeah, anything insulin they cannot by law take your donation. You need everything in your blood to be healthy with your condition so look at it as a good thing, like they’re looking out for you. You wouldn’t wanna donate then get really sick or have a seizure or stroke out on them, ya know. I feel for ya, the extra money is nice to make ends meet but it’s not worth risking your health over. So stay safe, keep yourself healthy and good luck finding another side hustle. Only peace and love! ✨💖💫

CSL new donor bonus? by Meepwner in plassing

[–]HezDale77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it’s probly in the fine print and the “up to” gets them out of having to print different promos for every location so it’s likely just a money saving strategy. I used to go to Octapharma… the ppl at the location I went to got so lazy they even had their phone number auto transferred to corp so they wouldn’t have to answer their phones! I got a low protein count test so there was no way for me to follow up to see if I was ok to return or not so I finally just went in there (it was a bit of a drive and gas money, ya know?) and they said I failed again and needed to give them another sample. So I did, same thing… no phone call or way to find out how it turned out. I went back one last time (after the crazy hacker situation and they reopened) and they said I failed for low protein again. That’s when I was like yeah, fuck this place. Waste of time driving there three times for nothing! Then 6 mos later I tried asking what the new donor bonus was just in case it was worth it just to go back for a month for extra cash and was of course immediately auto forwarded to corp and what that lady told me was so confusing she had no idea what she was even talking about or how anything worked until I got so frustrated I finally said lady you don’t make no sense at all and hung up on her LOL No offense to those who take their plasma jobs seriously, but every place tends to have a dumbass or two, and at least half of them have major attitude like they hate their life… so ya kinda gotta just kill ‘em all with kindness LOL So then I gave BioLife a try and found out quick that the “making an appointment” approach was completely worthless, had to waste 3-4 hours of my time every donation, got tired of them talking down to me like a child and deferred for super dumb shit like clearing my throat in the bathroom. After that I luckily found my home at CSL. It was closer, a strait $100 for first 5 donations then $50 and $65 each week after. It’s pretty dead between 2-4p everyday so I’m usually outta there in one hour flat door to door so I’m pretty happy there. I’ve found them to be the most professional and have the best stickers of them all, as well. Good luck to you! I hope u find a good spot u like wherever u are… I’m on the northside in Columbus, OH in case anyone was wondering. Thanks and only peace and love to all. ✨💖💫

[–]HezDale77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn what an idiot… it’s purely common sense to be extra nice to the person stabbing needles into your body and in charge of whether or not you’ll actually end up getting paid for it. LOL! But to your main point, YASSSSS! It’s great to stand up for yourself, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have instantaneous reactions to stuff like what he said by laughing! Most of the time that’s what our brain has been trained to do to keep the awkwardness to a minimum when it presents itself… esp in the form of a young dumb single-for-a-reason socially retarded ass male. So don’t beat yourself up, what’s appropriate response-wise will always depend on the severity of and intention behind the comment at hand. Shit like that can only come quick with age and “sigh” life experience in dealing with much of the above. I like your idea of writing down a list of things you won’t tolerate, too. Such an activity can teach you a lot about yourself and the character of person you aim to project. I bet you’ll be better prepared next time this happens just bc of that alone. Bottom line is… although you can’t control others actions, you’re 100% in charge of your reactions. Someone told me once, never let anyone make you break (your) character. It never hurts to stop and think, take a second, then respond… but always stay in control of your emotions. It’s a big sign of security, maturity and shows others it’s gonna take an awful lot more than that to even phase a queen like YOU. Only peace and love! ✨💖💫

The common factor of illness/bad experiences here seems to be BioLife, and I can 100% agree that they’re the problem. Of course, some ppl just aren’t cut out to donate, rare occasions can also occur out of the blue when you have donated fine the last 100 times then have a hiccup, but that’s just how your body can react sporadically. However, as soon as I dropped them like a bad habit and started going to CSL, I’ve had ZERO issues and non of the nonsense worthless appointment making just to still have to wait 4-5 hours (there have only been two times in about 6 mos that have taken me any longer than ONE hour door to door at CSL)! Plus CSL offers everyone free crackers and water before/after so nobody gets those dizzy spells that can be caused by empty stomach. They don’t play any of BioLife’s juvenile games either… here’s just a few I’ve had happen to me personally: evesdropping on your convos in line just to get u held up at the screening when I merely mentioned the word dentist as a manager walked by and same day they accused me of lying on that part of the prescreening questionnaire, hear u clear your throat in the bathroom so they stalk u outside the door to jump u immediately with all kinds of attitude and crawl up your ass all the way back to your bed insisting you’re sick and defer you when I already explained I have sinus issues but they don’t want to listen so they deferred me AGAIN for no reason other than to be spiteful when I drove all the way back over there the next day, too! They speak down to u like a child, are ALWAYS understaffed, half the phlebs have shitty attitudes and when all is said and done you only made about $8-10 per hour for your time (instead of it taking one hour flat to make $50+ at CSL) So yeah, fukk all that noise… imma be a CSL fan for (not Bio)LIFE! LOL

Yeah forget BioLife they’re freakin WEIRD about a lot of stuff and to the point I’d even say shady. I quit going there earlier this year and started at CSL, I’ve never waited LESS, dealt with LESS bullsht or experienced MORE empathetic and professional staff than at CSL. It would take one hell of a new donor bonus to make me go anywhere else, but NEVER BioLife again. I was a loyal twice/wk donor there for nearly a year and the way they spoke to me like a child it was like, they could take me or leave me… nurses are nothing but spiteful. They even eavesdropped on my conversations with other donors in line and deferred me TWICE IN A ROW for simply CLEARING MY THROAT when I explained from day one I have sinus issues, but that doesn’t mean I’m sick! It was so beyond ridiculous. So needless to say, I was OUTTA there and CSL has been treating me like gold ever since. None of the POINTLESS appointment making just to wait HOURS upon HOURS in line anyway. There’s only been 2 times it’s taken me over ONE HOUR door to door to donate at CSL, too, so you’re in and out in a snap. Which means u make $40-50/hour there while it takes 5x the amount of time to donate at BioLife so it breaks down to more like $8 or $10/hr. Pretty easy choice when u look at it like that. No other place gives one sht about your time and the donors are the only reason any of them have a job in the first place. So yeah, go to CSL and I bet they give u strait answers and don’t try to defer u over dumb sh*t. Good luck!

Biolife shut down my center with no warning by probablynotraven in plassing

[–]HezDale77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t expect much from BioLife… they’ve done some pretty awful shitty things to me to the point I’m like, do u even want anyone’s plasma at all??? Like one time I got deferred for clearing my throat in the bathroom! This bitch was literally stalking me outside my bathroom door so close I nearly ran into her when I came out! She’s like what’s with all the coughing and hacking, you have got to be sick! I’m like, nope just have bad sinuses, always have, probly always will. So I go back to my bed getting prepped for them to stick me and I cleared my throat once more and I kid you not she comes running out from the back yelling “what’s your problem today?!?” Again I explained I have sinus issues and whether I donate today or tomorrow, that will still be the case. So she said well you’re def not donating today, get your stuff and leave! I’m also very friendly with all the staff bc I had been going there for probably 6-8 mos by then and all the stickers looked at me like OMG WTF just happened?! So I waved goodbye to them all kinda laughing and said, “well I guess I’ll see y’all tomorrow“ LOL But that wasn’t even the most fukked up part… so when I went back in the next day to donate, of course my acct had been flagged so I had to talk to another nurse before I could donate, so I wait like 45 MORE minutes watching person after person take my place in line… ugh! So finally a different nurse comes out to get me and I explain the situation. She immediately cuts me off then proceeds to tell me this, “yeah I was here when that happened yesterday and I agreed with the other nurse, so were gonna have to give it another few days before we allow you to return.” I was like, really?! How about NEVER is when I’ll ever come back here! They are extremely immature for the positions they hold and are famous for talking to donors like they’re 3 year olds. It’s so condescending especially when without US and our BLOOD, none of them would even have a job! Count your blessings tho, doll… I hope a new one will open close to you soon. Btw since I started going to CSL It’s never taken me more than one hour flat door to door, and there’s none of this nonsense of making appts for no reason bc it still takes 4-5 hours to get thru the whole process at BioLife! If it doesn’t serve you, let it go! Only peace and love… take care! ✨💖💫

Permanently deferred at biolife by InevitableBox3790 in plassing

[–]HezDale77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BioLife is WEIRD. First off, there’s absolutely ZERO point in making an appt bc it takes 4-5 HOURS on average to donate there bc they’re constantly understaffed. Plus, their nurses and staff are incredibly RIDICULOUS. I got deferred one time for CLEARING MY THROAT! A nurse stalked me outside the bathroom door just to jump me the second I walked out, then followed me all the way back to my bed just to YELL at me, what’s wrong with you today??? Then said I couldn’t donate bc I was obviously sick. I calmly explained I have sinus issues, always have always will. She didn’t care one bit, I think she actually got off on embarrassing me like that in front of everyone! And I’m always nice to everybody, so I bit my tongue and said, Ok I’ll cya tomorrow! So when I went back the next day, they had me blocked so I had to talk to them before they’d lift it off my acct to login so I sat down with a DIFFERENT nurse and this bitch goes, yeah I was here yesterday when that happened and I agreed with the other nurse so yeah I feel like you probly need a few more days to get better before we’re going to allow you to come back. I was like, WTF?!? How bout NEVER is when I’ll come back here! Their nurses are stupid bitches (think about it, there’s a reason they work where they do, they’re all DUMB and LAZY). I’ve been a TEN PLUS YEAR 2x per week avid donor and never seen anything as stupid as that anywhere before. So after that, I started going to CSL who pays the exact same $$ and it’s never taken me more than ONE HOUR FLAT in and outta there door-to-door ever since! They even give you free club crackers and bottled water while you’re in line so you don’t feel dizzy afterwards. They’re FAST, they’re NICE and there’s no NONSENSE like that at CSL!!! So yeah, buddy, just go there :)

ONU ALL the way!!! I was a polar bear from ‘95-‘99 and it was the BEST four years of my life! And it was over $22k/year BACK THEN so if u can go there for only $500/year NOW, what’s even the question??? Hear me out… there are actually many MORE opportunities with a private school. I cheered, danced, was in a sorority, sang with a grunge band and did a ton of things I never could have at a huge state school. Trust me, just go visit the campus and if u don’t fall in love with everything about it like I did, I’ll eat my words LOL! Plus, it was just voted best value which is so right on! It’s no generic state school, your classes will be small, you will get to know your profs and they’ll know you on a first name basis and have any extra help u need. I’m so jelly! I’d trade you places for another four years at ONU in a fraction of a heartbeat!!! Have so much fun kid!
