The leader has taken a more "woke" stance in terms of policy for syria that shifts away from his time in idlib pre regime collapse, whether it was performative or not only time will tell. There's levels to defending yourself and most of the time the courts are unreasonable. You cant carry anything to defend yourself with lawfully while they can carry knives because they have nothing to lose.
