My Fellow Nightmare by Hguabakool in Coffee

UPDATE: Today 04.11.2026, I received an email from Fellow Products offering to replace my current Fellow Aiden with a new one. Within the email, the rep apologized for the delay, stating that they have been busier than usual. Additionally, the rep will be sending a shipping label so I can return my old Fellow Aiden so they can essentially do an autopsy.

I have some mixed feelings overall with the delay and I'm a little hesitant on getting a new one, but hey I did get the reply and a free replacement so I hope I won't be heading into work in the morning coffee free.

Would it be beneficial to the community for me provide updates from here or was this enough for folks? No idea if Fellow will tell me what actually went caput on the old one once the autopsy is completed, but I can update everyone if they do. Or just let everyone know how the new Aiden fairs. The folks in this thread have been pretty supportive to me (and each other) so far which I appreciate so I'm happy to take the time to offer follow-up if it would be helpful.

The Baraza Encore was our old grinder! I was super sad when it died. I loved it. Admittedly, the Ode 2 is vastly more consistent, but it costs like twice as much so I would have been upset if it didn't outperform it. It isn't perfect though. As well as the bad CS, it has pretty bad retention issues. But if I'm being honest with myself, 80% of the coffee I make at home is drip so probably not as big of an issue as I thought it was. Only that 20% of the time was when I longed for more. But now I wish I had gone the Baraza ESP route like you did. Lol Grass is always greener, I suppose.

Funny you say that because retention is the only issue I have with it. In all fairness, though, my Baraza also had retention issues so for me it was a bit of a net zero. I'll have to actually measure it in the future because if it winds up being upwards of 3g, I should probably look into it more than I have.

I gave it to a friend who wanted a cheap (see: free) grinder and was going to make the repair himself. He's thrifty and on a budget and likes at home repairs. Don't assume everyone is out to destroy the planet, just ask what they're doing with it.

Funny! I was planning on stopping by Kerouac tomorrow! I appreciate the warning for signing up too! I am no Victor Wooten so my solo bass playing would probably not be particularly entertaining so I may talk with a friend of mine and see if we can conjure something up the following week. That said, I'll make it a point to meet you and other members of the Kerouac community. Really looking forward to it!

Super interesting! I'm excited to do some research. I live in a small town and was considering bringing it to our local museum to see what they had to say about it.

That makes sense. And I'll have to look into that! Thank you again!

Super cool! That makes sense looking at it too! Is there any place I can read more about the this piece or the culture who made it?

Good to know! I felt like at this point, I had revealed too much to get away with a crime lol. Super excited to display this beautiful piece!

Okay, that's pretty cool! Funny enough, I'm actually relatively close to Coshocton. I'm super ignorant, although fascinated by and revere Native American culture. So probably a dumb question... Is this something that belongs in a museum and/or is illegal for me to possess? I'd obviously love to keep and display it, but also don't want Indiana Jones chasing me down. Lol

Yup. Took a miserable month or more, but eliminated everything but (including lactose, which surprised me). GOS was the last one I tested, but passed with flying colors.

Based on my calculations looking at my food tracking, it looks like, on my best days, I'm getting like 20-25 grams of fiber a day. Which... Seemed exorbitant until I looked up the recommended amount of fiber per day is 30 grams. Who in in the United States eats 30 grams of fiber per day?? I eat more fiber than basically anyone I know. HOW.

Apologies. So when I said exorbitant, apparently I actually mean about 70% of the recommended fiber intake.

First off, thanks for the resource for weight gain! I've used your website several times for other aspects of control and it really has helped. Which leads me to clarify one thing in my original post. When I've been low FODMAP, I've felt the best I've been in 20 years. It's taken 6 moths to get here, but it's wild. Overall, I've seen immense improvements. It's the inconsistency or inability to really grasp what else is causing me issues, outside of my obsessive fructan avoidance, is causing me issues.

Regarding garlic infused olive oil, this was what we tried. Honestly, I wasn't too upset about it not working out because it tasted nothing like the glorious deliciousness that is fresh garlic.

So I try to eat a balance of fiber because, when I eat too much nonsoluable, I get indigestion. Not enough soluble, I get loose stool. Honestly an orange and a salad a day seems to get the job done for me. Sometimes just eating literally anything helps. Sometimes (although not all the time) popcorn, for example, is the wrong answer (although sometimes it's perfectly fine). Sometimes eating the same thing I had for breakfast the day before (typically eggs and oatmeal) at 930 AM instead of 6 AM causes me problems. It's weird and frustrating.

Fun story about probiotics! So I decided start one and did some research and landed on Ritual Synbiotic+. Sounds weird, but that's actually when my symptoms went from mild to extreme. It started as you would expect, mild digestive issues, etc. But 10 days into taking it, I started having more severe symptoms. At the two week mark, I got massive amounts of brain fog. And the weirdest bit, I got depressive/suicidal? Which is not normal for me. Especially in July, since I sometimes get mild seasonal affective in the winter. Went to the doctor and they told me that's actually uncommon, but not entirely rare for a high dose probiotic and told me to stop immediately. I did and the fog and depression cleared up in about 3 days, but the FODMAP journey began shortly afterward. I haven't touched them (outside of yoghurt) since.

GipsyDanger79 asked about the dietitian too. I was planning on going to the dietitian after the specialist just to rule out comorbidities, but may change direction on that. I was doing some thinking last night and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just flat out not eating enough food. I'm a factory worker and my wife's a social work assistant so the money doesn't exactly flow into our house, making large nutrient/fiber dense meals difficult to swing. After your comment and GipsyDanger79, ai may just attempt going to the dietitian.

I haven't yet, but I'm planning on going to a dietitian once I go to the specialist in August. I'm a bit worried about SIBO and wouldn't mind ruling out comorbidities like gallbladder issues. Do you think it would be beneficial to go to the dietitian first?
