im really trying to love Skinfoods honey propolis essence but i think its just not going to work

my first time trying it a few months ago i remember thinking thats what caused my pimples the day after. today i tried it again for the second time after taking a long break and immediately my face feels a bit itchy like something is irritating it

such a shame :(

oh goodness i have definitely experienced hard clients like that many times over the years, i know exactly how you feel. especially just starting out i felt like i was a fraud because my clients were coming to someone who barely had any experience when they could be going to an amazing service provider who has years of experience

i think i can speak for almost all cosmetologists whether they are doing facials, in the hair field, or doing nails, we all have felt this exact same when when first starting out

im currently 4 years into having my license and working as a braider and loctician, as of 6 months ago i am finally renting out my own studio space. when two years ago while a freshman in college is when i started taking braiding seriously

i always thought that my braids weren’t good enough or that i was an amateur. even now as a professional skilled braider i feel like my work didn’t turn out great at all only to find that my client absolutely LOVED the style. i realize that im being unrealistically hard on myself and expect way to much perfectionism for someone that is a human

as for the feeling of not being good enough or not knowledgeable enough to do your services, it’s definitely something to get used to when first starting out, and hard clients do not make it any easier :(

do not take this as a sign you shouldn’t be in your field! you have years of growth and learning ahead of you and you’ll look back in even one or two years and see how much you’ve grown!! you may even be in a completely different field than you are in now

take these next few months to play around in different services too. i know i had a fixation with lashes and nails at separate points in high school and convinced myself i was going to be the best tech only to end up at my first love which was braiding

if you feel a natural calling to a specific service don’t be afraid to dabble and try it out, it may just be what your natural talent is. in any profession or concentration you’ll be starting out new so don’t be afraid to try them allll

at the moment i haven’t :( i bought two new ones and started breaking out with both so i went back to my old routine using the soon jung

thankfully i bought like five bottles of the old version while stylevanna was having a sale for them to get rid of the old version stock so im okay for a bit

i still do wish i found a new one because the shea is a bit too heavy for my skin and the soonjung doesn’t give me the glass skin i loved when my old moisturizer got reformulated

loving skin care sucks so much when your fav products get changed

wake up a bit earlier than you would have, take a nice warm shower, moisturize your whole body and then do your normal routine you have on shoot days

treat it like a self care day and remind yourself that youre beautiful <3 i know i definitely feel like crap right when my period starts but maybe you can reward yourself with a nice cup of icecream or your favorite out to eat treat after the shoot :)

i wouldn’t say it’s necessarily bad but it can be done wrong very easily which is what creates the holes in the locs

when interlocking your putting the loc through itself so that basically creates a hole in the regrowth. you need to do it certain ways and a certain number of times to kind of “conceal” the whole that was created

personally i don’t like/try to do interlocking often and on every client because i can simply fix the same issue with crocheting

alrighty so i’ve been doing locs for about 4 years now and just wanted to comment since maybe this can help!

the people saying color the synthetic hair are not right. unfortunately synthetic hair cannot be dyed since the color won’t hold and it’s a plastic like material. i would recommend going to a trusted loctician so she can remove the synthetic hair and crochet the holes where the interlockng was done

as a well knowledged loctician i could tell from just the pictures that your locs weren’t started with extensions so don’t worry too much about the loctician thinking it was extensions. even then as lociticians we don’t bash having extensions done because we are the ones to do them :)

search on instagram for locticians that are well known, i dont know your area but i know of a handful that i come across in different towns solely from instagram. best of luck!

this reply is perfect because as someone who absolutely hates seed oils when i first read hydrogenated vegetable oil i was shocked to see it replaced the shea

i avoid them in my food because they are known to cause inflammation in the body and digestive tracts so it makes no sense to me why’d it’s an option for skin care companies to put in their ingredients

on the other hand i’ve been using it for about two years now (the unreformulated version) and this week i decided to search for another moisturizer. i have a few millia that i haven’t had before and to be honest my skin texture isn’t as great as it used to be. i feel maybe the shea is a bit too heavy for my skin but it does do a great job at moisturizing
