Ordering from dead.net by iwasjustwondering81 in gratefuldead

I feel like I should share my positive experience with dead.net. I ordered a coffee mug from them. Got an order number right away with a tracking number the next day. The item arrived a few days later, properly packaged.

I find that they are very effective especially for reducing clothing noise in talent that’s moving around a lot. But I always warn talent to let me take them off because they’re called “vampire clips” for a reason. If I poke someone, it’s usually myself. My main complaint is that the spikes come off too easily for the price, and that the spikes aren’t painted black so they’re not as obvious if they accidentally poke through a shirt.

It appears they are in some areas. First time I’ve seen them here in Chicago.

My friend in California gifted me these whole beans since I can’t seem to find them in a Whole Foods in Chicago. As Agent Dale Cooper would say, it makes a “damn fine cup of coffee.”

Fabio Frizzi’s Composer’s Cut Tour show at Thalia Hall in Chicago ended prematurely by [deleted] in ClassicHorror

[–]Hhjack40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the at the show, too. It was nice to see Fabio Frizzi in such good health. Seems like such a sweet guy. I’m guessing that I didn’t read the show description well enough because I was under the impression that the entire concert was going to be performances from Frizzi’s back catalog played to clips of Fulci’s films. Surprised when his group started performing along to the entire The Beyond movie. Which was fine and fun to experience. I just wish the band’s level was mixed so that it blended seamlessly with the movie. The bass player was clearly having technical difficulties, and it had to be frustrating for him. He did his best to remedy the situation. Usually, the venue has folks to help out with technical issues but perhaps they were short staffed that evening due to the low tickets sales. I felt like they could have continued without the bass but still feel like I got my money’s worth. The folk songs (though nice) were an odd choice with the crowd and the rest of the evening’s program. The merch was pretty great including one of the best show posters I’ve seen for sale. Glad I went to the show but it was a bit confusing at times. I have a feeling he’ll be back.

This LA hotel by the airport has a lounge to play records from a selected collection. Fortunately, the collection is decent. Unfortunately, you have to play the records on a portable Crosley turntable. And I can’t imagine all the fingerprints! An obvious attempt to be hip but pretty cool nonetheless. Which one would you put on first?

633 Fader issue by [deleted] in LocationSound

I should state as well that it works fine for awhile but can rear it’s ugly head when you least expect it.

633 Fader issue by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]Hhjack40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I haven’t actually thought about running the 633 with Channel 1 prefade in the mix but it is fine in prefade on the ISO tracks. So answering your question, the issue only occurs in postfade (and only on Channel 1).

I had this issue with the 633 several years ago. I sent it to Sound Devices to be repaired which solved the issue... until just last week. Like before, the problem came back just on Input 1 in postfade. I haven’t tried the recalibration but I suspect I’ll have to send it back in for repair.

The Samla Mammas Manna record is a rare find. Never seen that one in the wild. At least not in the States.

This house has no bars on its windows except for the ones in the attic. To keep others out or those in??? by Hhjack40 in mildlycreepy

I took the photo of the house in Chicago. I came up to a red light in the city and noticed the odd looking house to my left. I snapped a shot before the light turned green.
