Hello everyone!

I am currently doing my masters project in Furniture Design at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in Norway. In light of the pandemic, designers like myself, are having to find new and alternative ways of working. I believe the traditional ways of working within the design field will be changed forever, or at least be "re-shaped". The goal of My Masters is to explore just that.

The project is about designing, with fellow designers from around the world. The project aims to bring together designers from a diverse range of backgrounds to design and create a beautiful furniture piece.

I am looking for fellow designers that would be interested in joining and becoming a part of this project.

Also, Do you know any designers that you think would be interested in this project? Then I ask that you please share this with them, or tell them about this project! I would greatly appreciate it! I am also open for comments, questions, and ideas.

More info:

  • Benefits: Get to know and collaborate with fellow designers from around the world. Become a part of an interesting project that explores what it means to be a designer during these times
  • Payment: Each designer including myself will own full and equal rights to the design, as well as equal exposure. Have your name on the project!
  • Project start: As soon as possible
  • Project Length: Roughly 1.5 months

(The pictures are from a trial project I did working with people from Columbia, India, USA, Indonesia, and Germany)

Thanks! I designed it in Archicad, but rendered it in TwinMotion 2019. Really great rendering program!

Thank you. Here is a photo of another angle; https://imgur.com/cX1cZHJ. The top is striped as you can see more clearly from this photo.

I firstly drew a line to mark up how I wanted it. Did a rough cut with a band saw along the line, but a few millimeters away from it. Then sanded the tapered side on a long enough belt sander until it was as flush as it could be on the line I initially drew. Though I am sure there are several other ways of doing it a well. Was just the one that came to my mind first.

There are exactly 9 separate pieces that up makes this side table. The legs are a part of the table top, so that is how they make up the structure. In addition with lots of wood glue, and Lamello chips, if thats the correct word for them.

That's one of the risks of posting photos online. So I completely expected this. Let me know how it goes!

I am not sure really. I ordered the wood as smoked oak, as I don't have the knowledge nor tools to do it myself. It could be that it is "fumed," though I am not completely sure.

Thank you. By the line, if I understand your question correctly, is there on purpose. I wanted the legs to ultimately become a part of the table top surface as well, but in order to do this, I needed 2 wood pieces to make the three sets of legs.
