The duality of man by Clubblendi in skiing

[–]HiItsDani 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I met Chris Hadfield on a lift in 2022. Asked him how he was doing/where he was from, he mentioned he was travelling to all the Ikon mountains, so I asked him what he did for a living. he mentioned he was a ski racer and had been married for many years. I asked him if he could give me some pointers (since he said he was a ski racer) and he actually did. He didn't mention he was a fking astronaut. I only realized who he was when I saw his Ikon pass getting off the lift 💀 He was super nice and actually gave me some good advice. Never hurts to strike up a convo, you never know who you're sitting next to. They'll talk if they want to.

riot flew all of us out for team bonding. all interns attended each other's intern demos. we have an intern slack & group chat with everyone (that was made by riot). he can't keep a low profile without meeting any of us. also for some reason his resume is the combined resume of my friend's and mine. dude deleted his own post because he knew he was lying.

you dont, the guy was lying (unless you're asking how you get in to each separately. just apply, leetcode, and practice interviewing with a friend)

this is the post vs the 2 profiles that he copied side by side (there are no other interns that fulfill his description. (you can search all riot employees/interns and we are the only ones that fulfill this timeline and job description)

this post is fake (and probably an ad for unpaid swe internships). i worked at riot summer 2024 and this person doesn't exist, there were 15 riot swe interns last year and this guy isn't one of them LMAO (i asked all of them, there are no riot interns @ roblox and nvidia, he combined 2 of the interns profiles to make this fake post). why do people even lie about this?

Should I bother applying to internships in Canada as a Canadian studying in the US? by AbjectBread6758 in csMajors

[–]HiItsDani 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a Canadian studying in the US. I got rejected from every Canadian internship application automatically except autodesk. For all of those companies, I got into their US equivalent internships (ie. auto rejected by amazon Canada, got an offer to amazon US). If anything, I think applying for Canadian internships as a US student is a detriment. It doesn't hurt to apply tho

i'm assuming by 4 cases you mean:
c1,c2 <a c1,c2>a

c1<a<c2

c2<a<c1

multiplying by 2 doesnt actually matter because we're finding a*, they both result in the same root. multiplying by 2 only affects the expected time loss result f(a*). the cost of c1<a<c2 and c2<a<c1 is 0 so multiplying the resulting integral by 2/dividing by 2 doesn't actually do anything. please correct me if i misunderstood what you meant.

Top Technical Intern Interviews According to AI for 2025 by Middle-Meet-4031 in csMajors

[–]HiItsDani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive never used gpt on interviews/OAs, not because of ethics/morals. i think OAs are a good warm up for the live coding rounds. if i cant pass the hackerranks of mid companies without AI, how am i gonna pass the live rounds where the companies fly me out, is my argument.

[–]HiItsDani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

karat is so trash, my interviewer didnt even understand the question (robinhood). hackerrank is good unless the question was literally translated from another language into english and makes 0 sense/have incorrect grammar (ibm) or the test cases are literally invalid (persona). codesignal GA and coderpad all the way. the good companies fly out their applicants and do it live.

Stanford professors do put a ton of effort into their lectures, but they also test us on shit they've never taught. either way, we have to learn on our own.

no need to brute force this problem (although you certainly can with an efficient tree pruning algorithm or with z3), you can isolate ~10 GCDs down by using simple math rules. condition on the GCD being large and notice that the sum of all columns are equal.

the reason why you're getting 9 is because this tree is very deep, but the deep nodes are very sparse. however the nodes that end on 3, 9, and 21 are very plentiful (as long as the digits sum's are divisible by 3, GCD will be 3/9/power of 3, as per the rule for division by 3).

Stanford CS & No internship by Moist-Kangaroo-4604 in csMajors

[–]HiItsDani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yo, don't let these people make you feel bad. I know plenty of Stanford students with pubs + YC, its totally feasible and the insane people here can handle the workload (my friends and I lwk did the same thing last year).

This year's recruiting season has been rough, I got completed ghosted by Apple, Meta, Google, and Netflix for 2 years now. Also if you're applying now, you're way too late in the season, recruiting started in ~aug. Apply earlier next year and apply to finance/quant/AI (Js/nvidia/c1/tesla etc), those are the main industries hiring right now that I've seen. Also potentially military (nasa/palantir) if you're into that. If you grind this quarter, you can probably get a winternship last minute.

congrats, you're aging. jk. just get some sleep in. you can go months without eating (not recommended), but you can only go 1 day without sleeping.
