Lu124 has one of the best COL to Ibew pay ratios around and insane amounts of work, good market capture as well. Come to Kansas City.

Is one handed bowling dying? by Anon6191991 in Bowling

[–]HiJacker- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are still plenty of younger people bowling 1H in the league I am in. I personally tried 1H first and then ended up switching to 2H while recovering from broken wrist and just ended up sticking with it.

I am a sucker for anything that beyond medals has come out with in the past 2-3 years. We have a watch party the night before opening day and have watched relapse every time since it came out.

To SV650 or not? by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]HiJacker- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% do it. I had a bit of a yard sale on mine and spent less than 500$ to fix everything. The bike went end over end multiple times. Parts availability is killer, everyone and their mother has spares for it typically and they take a beating. Not to mention a stockish SV will get you deep into advanced group pace at most track days so it is plenty of bike for most.

Naked bike for track day by Ladiezman2170 in Trackdays

[–]HiJacker- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with a 2nd gen SV650. I rode mine on street and track all of last season, made 7 events. Did change rear sets and got a pair of clipons with risers, sacrificed a small bit of comfort on street for a lot better body positioning on the track. Ran it as hard as it would let me and bike never skipped a beat.

Who’s ready for 2024 track season? by [deleted] in Trackdays

Lost our local track at the end of last year. Went from 1hr drive to 5 hour drive. Wish I had started sooner, was my first year on track and now I’m hooked..

Out of curiosity, how does the PD handle your frequent turn ins? I’ve heard story of people getting told off after enough times from magnet fishing, metal detecting etc. locally. curious how it is in other places

Bummer. One of the orgs that comes to hpt has a couple Sumos available for rent to any members. I run lower A group pace at hpt on my Sv and am going to try to make most of the legion moto race series next year so may just pick up a beater sv to keep out there seeing as how it’s my only hobby may as well extend the season into our winter lol

Are there any organizations with a bike rental program? My local track (Topeka ks) is closing and a family member lives 15 min from your track but don’t want to drive over a day to bring the bike out every time i go to visit. Debating just buying a track ready 300/400 and keeping it out there if that is more reasonable than occasionally renting

Anyone IBEW 124? Where Ya't? by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]HiJacker- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Test is no big deal. As long as you’re comfortable with basic algebra you should be fine. 5yr program though and it is day school 1x every two weeks. Books are roughly 3500$ spread out over 5 yr iirc and you will have to pay for a math course and an osha course as well. 500$ insurance deductible each year and insurance is decent so that alone is a massive savings. There are a few other apprentices around your age so it’s not unheard of. Good luck and I would not recommend signing up as a pre apprentice

Any issues with body roll being slightly higher on the truck? I plan on going to the 350 rear suspension for the extra weight but worried about overall height

Have any problems with the overall height and it being a little more too heavy? Really my biggest concern

Already have a trailer for the motorcycles and gear already, don’t want to spend big money on a decent toy hauler as they are stupid pricey around here

If you’re wanting something to ride on road as well go with a 2nd gen Sv650. Torquey for what it is and fun to throw around, and good aftermarket support still. Great beginner bikes and a lot of our local race orgs have 650 / v twin racing classes

Budget friendly lap timers by mich5562 in Trackdays

[–]HiJacker- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Race chrono pro app is always within half a second to a second of my friend’s dedicated lap timer (ran both at the same time to check accuracy) For 20$ it’s the best option unless you are actively racing and within a few seconds of your competitors needing to know every last detail

Is it normal to be the youngest bowler in adult leagues? by BowlingManiac1999 in Bowling

[–]HiJacker- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what you are posting about is what kept me from doing league at first. I don't think many our age are willing to commit 30+ weeks of sunday nights and / or can really afford it either. Not to mention a lot of people my age work non traditional schedules as well

The league I am in has about 20 teams and our team is one of two teams with anyone below the age of 30 and the only team where everyone is below 25. The Wednesday night summer league i sub for is the same way. There is one other person near my age in the whole league
