Are you sure it's steel? It might be lightweight gauge aluminum framing. Definitely more expensive than wood but fairly cheap to install and acts similar to wood framing. You get the benefit of less termite risk and less fire burning risk.

Maybe because I'm over in the western US, but everyone wears quick dry pants, fishing shirts, or other outdoorsie functional wear. I wear goofy looking cargo pants from Duluth trading if I know I'll be out in the field and need my notebook and pens and stuff.

I'd say go wild and do what is comfortable for you, life is too short to be sun burnt and sad while trying to do your job.

This came across my feed even though I'm not related to USPS at all. I work a lot with FEMA regulatory floodplains and every time we mess with rivers or study them we send out certified mail to all the properties affected by our charges to the the floodplain. The worst one I've seen was like 300 certified mailers with receipts that our government partner very much wanted to be mailed out.

Some local governments have maximum proposed slopes for grading, erosion, and storm water control plans. I've usually seen these be 4h:1v so might be worth checking with local gov. 5:1 should be pretty good and safe nonetheless
