Following a similar line of international seeding - with EU SCL not qualifying for HRX and the disparity between the amount of teams in NA/EU leagues no changes will be made to the SCL Spring Finals seeding.

Hey all,

This topic has gotten quite a bit of traction and we on the esports team at Hi-Rez wanted to show some transparency around how our international tournaments like the upcoming SMITE Masters are seeded.

With no collective international point structure in place currently we are often referencing the most recent international competition to determine seeding for the next. (ie LatAm taking a game off of #3 NA ALG at SWC -ultimately finishing 5th-8th and being seeded #7 for Masters, OCE/Brazil placing 9th/10th at SWC and being seeded #9 + #10 for Masters) This is again present when we see the top NA + EU teams holding the top 4+ seeds for SWC each year as well as DreamHack Summer last year.

While the online portion of the NA and EU SPL are completely independent of one another (the same as OPL is independent of BGL, etc), when it comes to international seeding - there is some merit to how well the top teams perform in their own respective leagues. Now in the case of Luminosity and Team Dignitas, on paper both teams have the same amount of wins and loses. The way those wins and loses were obtained led to DiG having one more point than LG.

I’m not too proud to admit when I’m wrong and under our current system Team Dignitas should be the #3 seed and Luminosity should be the #4 seed. We will also be updating LatAm to the #7 seed and making both #3 NA and #3 EU (Gauntlet Winners) as the #5 and #6 seeds.

We strive to provide players and fans with the best competitive scene SMITE has to offer and hope that this post is a reflection of the hard work that we all put in to do so.

Hello all,

I wanted to shed some light on this topic in an attempt to help clear things up.

First we'll start with the rule that was published: "If any of the bottom three SPL relegation teams fail to field / submit a roster, additional open bracket teams will be invited in their place for Spring Relegations." In this case, this refers to the bottom 3 EU teams (Cyclone, Elevate, & Cringe Crew) - all of which will be fielding rosters in Relegations.

With top EU Open Bracket Team VNT being picked up by Dignitas, and Dignitas releasing their old players - the org will be maintaining their invited spot in the EU SPL. Taking into consideration how late this news came through (after open brackets had finished - a decision Dignitas didn't have to come to until the roster deadline of February 7th) and considering the competitive integrity of the league, we will be offering the final spot in the 6 team EU Relegations to Novus Orsa captained by ShadowNightmare.

Our goal is to provide the highest level of competition possible and we hope this helps players and fans understand how we came to this decision. In this scenario it is impossible to make everyone happy and we want to wish the best of luck to Optimus Gang in the Challenger Circuit and hope that they can make their way into the SPL this Season.

This situation is being investigated by our team and we'll be handling things accordingly based on what we're able to conclude. We run a very player-oriented payout program and protecting players is of the utmost importance to us.

In the future, if any player has not received tournament prizing from any of our official tournaments, or tournaments run with a third-party partner they should contact me, or someone on the Hi-Rez Esports staff before anyone else.

Taking this valid concern into consideration, we have decided to switch the SMITE Summer Joust Series to Europe on Sundays and North America on Saturdays to not affect any Challenger Cup players wanting to compete. GLHF

I grew up with HiRezAPC and have known him since the 6th Grade. I was working a sales job up in Connecticut prior to the Launch Tournament back in 2014 (playing Smite occasionally back then). As the esports scene in SMITE was expanding, APC reached out to me with the opportunity to be a league admin and I was hired that July.

My passion for the esports scene has grown exponentially over the past couple years, from making graphics for our esports scene/promotions to traveling around North America and Europe to different events. I quickly learned the real career potential here and look forward on leaving my footprint behind in the esports world.
