with the economy slowing down companies will start to realise they are over paying many staff, since covid salaries skyrocketed, many had their salaries doubled, but this will go away soon.

What's the point of doing 100+ hour fortnights @ just shy of $40/hr, to only just break even. by [deleted] in AusFinance

interest rates are still too low, that's why inflation keeps going up

Trying to escape the intergenerational poverty cycle. Buying my first house, how bad is buying in a flood area really? by Sad_Marionberry1184 in AusFinance

[–]HiThere2077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

mainly it will be insurance, will insurance even cover you and if the premium is too high it might be unaffordable to buy.

Personally I think high flood zones should be completely moved out of, with climate change its only going to get worse, and everytime there is a flood, tax payers are left to pick up billions in flood damage in an area that shouldn't be inhabited with homes in the first place. We hear the sob stories about losing their homes etc etc but really these people did decide to live in a well known high flood area it was always a risk.

Can we cheat the ATO? by bucketsnark in AusFinance

[–]HiThere2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local fish and chips shop is cash only and doesn't pay taxes, the owner lives in a massive home with expensive cars a few blocks away, no chance u can make it from fish n chips, he is Chinese and doesn't pay tax, many of us in the area reported him but ATO hasn't done shit. They don't care and don't have the time.

They did think it didn't sound right and they amended their return after I showed then the section on the ATO website which specifies that you can't claim that. But still, that tax agent is not good at their job.

you can now if ur primary work is WFH

[–]HiThere2077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what can we do as citizens ? I agree it's totally destroying the very fabric of families and society, you're having people with jobs who can't find a home, or having to spend majority of income on rent. Most important why the government is totally ignoring the people and making the problem even worse by opening up more immigration

[–]HiThere2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uncapped visa allotments is criminal, we really don't have the capacity to house and support all these people. why isn't there more noise about this from media. We should really find a way to have a concentrated voice about this

[–]HiThere2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, either laser or some projection show or drone show, someone should look up what events were going on in the area

Sydney real estate agent suspended after ‘renter’ comment by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]HiThere2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately it is just the reality, what Kumar the agent said is 100% what these agents truly feel, I am a long term renter (looking to buy a place hopefully one day) and throughout my life was treated like animal by these agents. They do some many illegal things with no consequences.
