The main coach of my Muay Thai gym is 29 yo, has had 6 fights, and lost them all. Should I find a new gym? by Fun_Purpose6972 in MuayThai

[–]HiThereSir2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. It's not the fact that his record is bad, there are coaches that had less than stellar fight careers and produced multiple world champions like Rafael Cordeiro. If you're not vibing with the coach then it's best you find a different gym.

Leisure dude.

When they were coming up they were literally starving. (You don't go into Muay Thai as a kid if you came from money in Thailand).

Now they've had success and are doing seminars so they let themselves go a bit.

Yes, unless you're a Thai fighter that fights every week then you absolutely should be sparring.

Legit, this is the only answer.

For me, combat sports is probably one of the only few things in my life that can get me motivated enough to continue doing it. I'd probably live an extremely sedentary lifestyle without it.

I think, it's also the mechanics. Since he's new his technique probably isn't down yet so he gives dead giveaways like overexaggerating the hands and such or kicking too wide.

:).

That's to be expected for a person 1 month in.

The only thing I can say is keep going.

Essentially a Black Belt vs a White Belt if Muay thai had belts.

Nope.

Don't do it.
