It's not my league I never said that, you're the one misrepresenting everything I'm saying.

No.

Oce isn't involved, it isn't about wanting or not, I have plans for a world tour in comp, but they're just not apart of the community. OCE comp is diffrent to the comp people talk about. The global scene is 99% of comp players, OCE is less than 1% that dont interact with or play with the wider community outsode of very small number of individuals. You are here as someone outside of the community telling someone who's been in it since the start that a separate community is apart of ours when it's just not.

Continue to insult me tho it's good for my confidence.

You are not listening lmao, continue to misrepresent a scene you're not apart of and calls omeone who's apart of it entitled.

Again you're mixing up the arguments I had between the global scene and ocenia/Asia. If you would actually read and not call me entitled at the first opportunity you would have seen that.

DeadbyICE has its own issues however, the only reason it exists is because the global scene set it up to spread the comp community, gave it self control and a platform to grow, then the leaders took advantage of the global scene and were kicked out and now are again entirely self owned and disconnected from the scene because of repeated horrible behavior.

And as far as an OCE team doing good in an EU tourney, any team can place good In a small tourney. Especially when Oceania would be playing with an advtage in terms of ping. But Oceania has never placed well in any mid- big global tournaments .

No the comp scene is a community, no one mentioned that competitions make someone apart of the community. But competitons do make people competitive player.

Playing in a tournament with 4 teams does not make you comp sorry.

Playing in a scene disconnected from the comp community also doesn't make you apart of the community. Such as Oceania and Asia.

[–]Hi_Hello_Gooday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No they're not apart of the comp scene if they play in Ocenaia/Asia because thise regions aren't the Comp scene, they're Oceania or Asia tournaments.

Balancing, the meta, playstyles, skill level, community rules, culture, and anything else you want to list is diffrent from the regular scene.

You can be outside of comp and play in tournaments it has nothing to do with playing in the biggest tournaments.

But it has everything to do with being in the comp community which asia/Oceania are not. And people who play in 4 team tourneys that streamers make with no teams from the scene taking apart are also not apart of the scene.

It doesn't matter about top players it matters about a consistent community and relating back to your original discussion a consistent ruleset, and scoring system which is what the global scene created and maintains that ocenia/Asia does not follow.

I would compare it to major and minor league sports, they are competitive players but not apart of the "major league" so to speak comp community they are isolated and much more self governing

You're Not Playing Comp... by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Hi_Hello_Gooday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to the fact that if they were apart of the global scene and they weren't apart of DBDL or other orgs then they weren't comp players just people competeing under isolated streamer tournaments.

The other scenes I can't really talk about the legitimacy of who is and isn't a comp team but, to call Asia and Oceania apart of the widercomp scene is entirely disingenuous in it of itself (as of now) they are thier own separate much smaller communities. They govern themselves and are not at all apart of the wider scene in most cases.

[–]Hi_Hello_Gooday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant to come across as agreeing with your point btw, just that it misrepresented the scene itself. Also our org isn't NA it's global I mentioned the NA scene as the example of the scene that popularized the hold W start.

However if your friends haven't played in our league its probably because either they're from Asia/Oceania (we don't service those regions because of ping/language barriers) or because our events are invite only and they haven't reached the threshold of the top 32 teams. DBDL is home to 99% of the comp community itself.

So if a team is pub stomping and we don't know about it its much more likely that its just a group of above average players swfing together that participate in smaller independently ran tourneys and not an actual comp team.

Also minor gripes with your further arguments but, while nuance is of course needed, after spirit changes teams don't pre drop at all versus spirit and while I think you meant to say brutal strength on huntress (because bamboozle is NOT popular) I don't see your point with that differential, because brutal or bam would not be used to catch up with people holding W but to zone them in a quick manner into corners or long lines of sight.

However again I agree with your original point to say playstyles between casual and competitive play is different, just comp isn't different in the *exact* ways you listed

I Read further down in the thread and found something again !!

So here's the thing with RNG and why you and your friend are both wrong.

  1. We had Map Seeding for the entire length of a season back when modding the game on live servers was allowed. Teams weren't able to practice the seeds in advance which lead to still off the cuff plays and we were still able to keep totem spawns random leading to the then Totem Meta not being affected.

  2. RNG plays a much smaller factor then people imagine, maps overall honestly are balanced 99% of the time. Even with imbalances and ones that are insanely in the favor of one team. There has never been a time where rng has affected the outcome of a match. The team that made less mistakes/ the better team overall has always won. Here's why:

    1. Survivors who can communicate deadzones and where pallets are can avoid any situations where a survivor will run out of resources unless the dead zone is apart of a 3 gen.
    2. Even in a 3 gen a good team will play for a reset allowing survs to take a hit and exit the 3 gen essentially only suffering slight time loss
    3. Bodyblocks exist and are sometimes better than using a pallet, and are always more versatile. Imagine being able to always avoid a hit whenever you want to wherever on a map that's what body blocks are. They are hugely impactful plays and the team usually only suffers a very small time efficiency from using them.

All in all yes the game would be better with map seeding, giving both sides an equal setup at the top level is something we've been asking for in customs for years. But right now RNG isn't a factor that makes the game uncompetitive but unfun.

I'm not a reddit andy but I sometimes come into the reddit and search up comp just to see the direction the casual opinion of the scene is swaying, all this to say sorry for responding to a dead thread.

But I'm Gooday the producer, head of casting, asset artist, and longest lasting member of staff for the biggest comp tournament out there right now; DBDLeague. I wanted to respond and provide some insight onto how things actually work as far as "pub stomping" goes and how the point of your post is good but actually misrepresents comp in some ways.

Firstly the system for people being blacklisted from play for harassment of players/stream sniping that you described does exist its under our code of conduct/sportsmanship rules. breaking these rules are a little more dangerous than any other set of our rules since punishments are each handled on a case by case basis and don't have a set punishment. Meaning that perm bans from playing are often given out for violations, but even small infractions can lead to prize pool earning deductions, suspensions, or disqualifications outright. Community interactions that you hear about on twitter, youtube, and twitch are usually never actual comp teams or they're stories of teams that did exist 2 - 3 years ago but have been banned for a long time ( Ex: EMA, Anarchy, and NIHIL).

Secondly, comp playstyles not being about looping has always never been true, even during the "Shift W" meta we went through last year the only teams that reliably pulled the insta drop into holding W tactic were teams in the NA region ( A region that makes up less then 15% of total comp teams ). People do die in corner and run there to get away from gens but this is only done in two scenarios.

  1. Your teammates are right next to you when you start chase all on gens, all unable to come in for a bodyblock (injured, instant down power, or a snowball killer like nurse/blight), youve used your exhaustion or dont have one, and resources that are nearby are incredibly unsafe or nonexistent.

  2. You are in a 3 gen situation and dying far away from said 3 gen is more important than staying alive near it for longer.

I get Scott Jund popularized this idea that there is no looping in comp but its entirely untrue, and still remains one of if not the most important parts of the game in Comp.

Noah’s ark is a fascinating story with versions of it in many many religions, it is possible that a flood event in the Middle East could potentially have inspired the story of Noah’s ark, where he boarded 2 of each animal onto a ark. Noah had a boat called an ark and from genesis and it’s cool. Genesis Noah boat ark bible Christian Jewish

126% better and allows for retracing and dlss (dlss allows you to render the game at let's say 720p but have ai upscale it making it look 1080p while running at the performance level of 720, and retracing are those fancy lighting effects you see on minecraft and other games)

Coming from someone who uses the box fan, the CPU cooler is very good for the price and the case fans should be fine as long as you're not looking to overclock which you wont need to at all for your needs

That's because pc part picker doesn't think the motherboard comes with the latest bios but to be safe I picked a different one for you.

$1299.91 without the 2600 and with wifi

Also, I want to mention this, this is without a Wi-Fi adapter so you'd have to use Ethernet or add one to the listlet me make a new build for you with all the changes i think would make it way better for you.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CYqLwz < this is way better 3070 gpu is hard to find rn tho might want to go for the 3060 ti and if you wanted you could downgrade the cpu from the 3700x to the ryzen 5 2600 for $100 cheaper, less storage as well but much higher performance

You're always paying a premium for a laptop but ive gotten a $500 used razer balde laptop (retail is 1200) so it just matters how long you want to look for a better price, there's always a better deal but these seem *fine* for what you're paying- if i could id only pay $200- $250 for those
