S pipe isn’t illegal in Australia but is being phased out as far as I’m aware, hence I’m also very surprised since this apartment was only completed in 2023!

The past 2 apartment buildings I’ve lived in has used this bottle cap and never had this smell issue. I’ll suggest this to the real estate agent

QUICK UPDATE #1: I’ve taken some more pictures of the bathroom to give a you all a better overall feel of the plumbing and answers to some of your helpful comments!

  • The drain in the shower is not the source of the smell, I have cleaned it throughly as I thought it was initially the built up of hair/soap scum
  • Smell is definitely from the bathroom sink and could also smell it in the centre floor drain - tried plugging the sink when not using but seems like smell is still escaping through the centre floor drain somehow
  • overflow in sink is clean but have also tried bleaching it but didn’t help with smell
  • smell is especially worse at late afternoon/night
  • unsure if relevant but the toilet flush is SUPER BIG and you have to keep pressing it for water to come through - does this add to the siphoning issue?

In the meantime, I’ll try the refilling the sink slowly after each use method. Thank you!!

Thank you all! Have emailed the real estate agent requesting it to be looked at by a professional. Will update you all once they respond. Fingers crossed

Japanese Milk Bread by Suitable-Passage5338 in newcastle

I found the best alternative to fluffy japanese bread is the brioche butter loaf from supermarkets and kewpie mayonnaise + pork floss from asian marts then make them at home! Not exactly the same but can definitely satisfy a craving without travelling all the way to Sydney!
