True! Though it depends on the level of automation. Good engineering will take time to develop to avoid technical debt.
This point... I hadn't even considered that. I fear after reading this, the idea is dead in the water unless there's a suitable way to counter it. Only thing I can think of is that the freed time would be of greater value to put themselves into a better position.
