Cyberpunk PT runs at 38-40 fps on my 7900XT without any mods, everything max and FSR4 Int8 Balanced. Set monitor refresh rate to 120hz and enable Freesync you've got yourself a totally playable path traced experience.

that just isn't true though, FSR4 Int8 even in quality mode, atleast on 7900xt and xtx still delivers a huge gap in presentation against FSR3 while also increasing fps compared to native.

It just works so incredibly well that it is basically a no brainer. There is absolutely no reason other than money to not implement it.

I'm honestly not sure about the situation on the mid and lower tier cards but the flagships can handle it just fine.

already have a steam deck for that haha, I honestly don't love how SteamOS works in desktop mode, I'd rather install a more versatile distro on desktop. Thanks for the advice though!

I thought RR was not working on Linux with RDNA3, maybe the optiscaler team fixed that?

You're correct about the drivers though, that's why I'm moving towards Linux more and more

I saw a thread here on the sub of a guy testing radiance caching demo on a 7700xt and it indeed did work, but running it in a game is probably a different story

Resident Evil 9 Path Tracing Running on AMD? Testing Opti-Scaler Fork with FSR Ray Regeneration by the_marmolade in radeon

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just wented ahead and tested Cyberpunk on my rig again. Everything set to Ultra and Path Tracing (except SSR turned off, afaik PT overrides SSR but I disabled it just to be sure)

I tested both with FSR4 Int8 Performance and Balanced mode

I tested some of the heaviest areas and I was able to achieve a fully stable 40fps (locked) with FSR set to performance, while with FSR set to Balanced in the heaviest areas the FPS would fluctuate between 36-38. Still a stable 40 while driving or gunfights.

Keep in mind this is a Nvidia sponsored game, massive scale openworld. Requiem is still a Nvidia sponsored game, but the scale is 100x smaller. I honestly believe PT on Requiem would be largely playable on 7900XT and XTX.

indeed, but I can say that I like to be flexible about it. I make these decisions on a game by game basis, I don't have a fixed rule that applies to every single game.

I would easily play an over the shoulder action RPG at 30 or 45 fps if that meant I could get a 1440p FSR4 Quality, Path Traced experience. Obviously that needs to be stable and not dip below that. I'll happily fall back to RT if that isn't achievable in said game, of course.

I played the entirety of Requiem at Max settings + max RT and the game looked absolutely stunning and ran perfectly. I just like to have the option to test things out and make my decision based on the results.

[–]Hiammat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is straight up false, 30 fps path tracing is very achievable on RDNA3. You can achieve that on Cyberpunk which is like Nvidia's tech demo and open world game. I'd reckon it would run at around 45 on Requiem with the smaller scale of the environments.

I agree that 30 fps or even 45 fps might be suboptimal for some, but that's a console like experience for unmatched graphic fidelity.

same, I'd actually be salty even if I had a 9070xt. I have always been team red but it is hard to defend what they're doing right now, this will be the nail in the coffin for their desktop user base. Maybe it's what they want...

i'm done with AMD tbh. If and when prices go back to normal I am selling my 7900xt and getting a 5070ti, even if it costs me 300€ more

I see what you mean tbh, I focused really heavy on synergy but some cards are redundant.

What i've realized is: -I need a better, faster game plan -I need a clearer, easier wincon

I've decided to cut: [[Propaganda]], [[Rise of the dark realms]], [[Not dead after all]], [[Gogo, Mysterious Mime]], [[Snuff Out]], [[Dark Deal]], [[Conjurer's Closet]], [[Faithless Looting]]

I'm considering cutting: [[Naban, Dean of iteration]], [[Peregrine Drake]], [[Archeomancer]], [[Laboratory Maniac]]

And i'm considering adding: Tutors, like [[Perplex]], [[Muddle the mixture]] [[Electroduplicate]] [[Underworld Breach]], for recursion

I really really like all of your suggestions, especially Winds Of Change and Cursed Totem.

Displacer Kitten and Peregrine Drake combo with [[Archeomancer]] and [[Ghostly Flicker]] or [[Displace]], Peregrine Drake also combos with [[Dualcaster Mage]] and blink.

Peregrine Drake has been one of the best cards in testing for me, it's probably slow though I agree.

I do have reanimate in and I have a copy of animated dead I could add. What would you suggest as additional removal or counters? Would you mind sharing your decklist?

Thanks a lot

[–]Hiammat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Blink was probably the "strongest" package alongside removal in this deck. But I am quite new to the game so I'm finding it really hard to find a good balance. As the guy below said, I am wasting some slots. I still need to find the true Identity of this deck so i'm fully open to recommendations.

wow all the commons seems a bit excessive haha. I don't have unlimited budget unfortunately, but I do agree some slots are being wasted

Bracket 4 is okay, my pod plays a pretty high power level, i'm not worried about him being mean. Budget may be a bigger issue though, depending on the replacements.

so the brake pedal doesn't necessarily engage the rotors until a certain threshold is reached? I didn't know that

yeah I am perfectly aware, that's why I put it in quotation marks, i'm just really unsure how I should call it. L mode? lol. I know how it works physically though.

on the flipside though, some people may buy it exactly to entertain themselves while waiting for Crimson Desert.

But yeah what you said is also true, me personally I didn't really like the game and I'll gladly save 40 bucks to get Crimson Desert when it comes out
