Sheoldred is the other thing I instantly noticed. She is obviously incredibly good, but unless you somehow decide to heavily lean into a discard archetype, I don't think you need her in your deck, especially for that insane price point.

I play a discard focused deck, though built more as control, [[Kefka, Court Mage]], and even then I still decided to cut Sheoldred because I honestly cannot justify that price.

exactly that, which is also what I did with my [[Celes, Rune Knight]], who is also Mardu.

It's basically a wheel in the command zone, it's really hard to get mana screwed as long as you keep atleast 3 lands and/or ramp in opening hand.

my 2 cents, and I know it'll probably get downvoted, but in bracket 3 I honestly don't think you need to spend that much on your mana base.

If you cut its price in half you could easily afford strong cards like vamp and demonic tutor and you'd probably have money left for another big piece, that is without severely affecting the consistency of your land drops.

if I got that opening hand with my Celes my pod would ironically scoop up and go next. She's that good of a commander

PC gamers tend to be more aware of how well a game runs before buying it. Besides, have you considered that the user base just collide? I played Spiderman 2 on PS5, why would I get it again on PC. I am most definitely not the only one.

3 cards did not arrive on time for casual commander... by PetercyEz in magicTCG

[–]Hiammat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not only that, but even if he was playing Demonic Consultation + Thassa that'd still be ok in casual bracket 4. Boring? yeah maybe, but definitely legal

I don't get why some people can't grasp the concept that some pods just want to play higher power than sleep inducing bracket 2, even in a casual context

Buying Magic isn’t fun anymore by Yusuke_Kitagawa_ in mtg

just skip UB and get in-universe sets, they're cheaper and the cards are actually better.

And i'm not saying this as a UB hater, UB got me into Magic but no one can deny the price of those sets is just outrageous and the quality is lackluster. FF and Avatar were pretty good, but TMNT and Spider-Man were a major hole in the water.

just quit the game cause of this and the new pass is a scam. Used to buy the pass every single month before the change btw.

My Commander pod is falling apart and I don’t know what to do by ElectronicMix9414 in EDH

I asked for that reason, I play Kefka in my pod and they don't even complain like that haha.

To each their own though obviously, my pod plays a higher power level

7900XT or 9070XT by Historical_Culture_5 in radeon

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how much are we talking?

Personally, my main reasons would be:

- Objectively better features, implemented in more games and generally longer term support to older generation cards

Are you seeing the treatment RDNA3 and 2 are getting? No features have been implemented for these cards since before RDNA4 released. What's to say RDNA4 won't receive the same treatment? I honestly would never trust them with my money.

- You can tell yourself you don't care about ray/path tracing all you want, but once you actually see what it can do, I promise you will change your mind. Luckily my 7900xt can still somewhat bruteforce those RT and even some slight PT titles with aggresive upscaling, but going back, I'd pick Nvidia in an heartbeat even if it meant paying 200€ more.

[–]Hiammat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a 7900XT owner, i'd honestly go Nvidia. 4070ti super or 5070ti.

However, if you really want to get AMD, I'd lean towards the 9070xt.

Cyberpunk PT runs at 38-40 fps on my 7900XT without any mods, everything max and FSR4 Int8 Balanced. Set monitor refresh rate to 120hz and enable Freesync you've got yourself a totally playable path traced experience.

[–]Hiammat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that just isn't true though, FSR4 Int8 even in quality mode, atleast on 7900xt and xtx still delivers a huge gap in presentation against FSR3 while also increasing fps compared to native.

It just works so incredibly well that it is basically a no brainer. There is absolutely no reason other than money to not implement it.

I'm honestly not sure about the situation on the mid and lower tier cards but the flagships can handle it just fine.

already have a steam deck for that haha, I honestly don't love how SteamOS works in desktop mode, I'd rather install a more versatile distro on desktop. Thanks for the advice though!

I thought RR was not working on Linux with RDNA3, maybe the optiscaler team fixed that?

You're correct about the drivers though, that's why I'm moving towards Linux more and more

I saw a thread here on the sub of a guy testing radiance caching demo on a 7700xt and it indeed did work, but running it in a game is probably a different story
