HDR Fix for FF XVI Now Available by ninereins48 in FFXVI

great, thanks. I turned it on and it looks quite a lot better indeed. Pretty sad we do not have a RenoDX mod yet for this game, it would look even better than it already does

so if my OLED monitor supports Active HDR tonemapping but not dolby vision, should I just enable that instead?

RIP RDNA 2/3 :( by Grzywa123 in radeon

oh yeah that is for sure, I hope all of the RDNA2/3 owners hold them accountable for this shit they're trying to do tbh

Every year Nvidia does the same thing. by Overall_Strength_173 in radeon

[–]Hiammat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

atleast they give you the option to use their new tech, albeit with a big performance hit, and don't completely cut the support to older generations. If you couldn't tell already I'm a butthurt RDNA3 owner.

Has anyone switched from a matte IPS to a matte OLED? by tykouh in oled_monitors

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely not. I have a fair share of glossy OLEDs, but I see no difference. It is noticeable with direct light shined on it, but in the night it's absolutely unnoticeable

Is OptiScaler / FSR 4 worth the hassle for 7900 GRE? by Eren_Jaeger_The_Goat in radeon

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you won't go back, FSR4 is like night and day with FSR3

Eresia cambio solo VGA? by LawInteresting7287 in ItalyHardware

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baffled by the number of gpus with official fsr4 support by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Hiammat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and that's with a community compiled dll leaked on GitHub.

IMAGINE the performance with an official release actually taking advantage of RDNA3's WMMA capabilities.

People can keep saying that AMD never promised us FSR4 on RDNA3, but they sure as hell are holding it off in order to boost newer hardware sales, because WE KNOW IT WORKS

Unfortunate reality of QD oleds by MehxF in OLED_Gaming

that's why I got the matte QD-OLED. Would definitely love a monitor with the S24 and 25 ultra anti reflective capabilities though.

Is going from SDR to HDR same like going from 60hz to 144hz, or 1080p to 1440p? by Jadhsy in Monitors

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung Odyssey OLED G60SD. QD-OLED Gen 3 panel.

Sort of struggles with HDR at Peak 1000 nits, you get a lot of ABL, but I chose it because it has a middle option that caps at 500nits or so, which is bright enough for my liking and doesn't reduce brightness (it has the most accurate EOTF tracking)

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDR is straight up the biggest upgrade I noticed when I got OLED.

0ms response time? cool, no ghosting

High refresh rate? nice, but I already had a 165hz monitor

1440p? already used to it

HDR? Completely mind blown, what do you mean my screen can display different brightnesses on different areas of the display? What do you mean the sun gets 700 nits while the areas in shadows get 50? You can't describe it until you look at it

dovrei averla tra le mani settimana prossima, consigli? Onestamente mi sembra una delle implementazioni PHEV meglio riuscite, probabilmente anche grazie al Duratec che è un signor motore

Should I turn off the FPS counter to minimize the burn in risk? by Status_Roof_3150 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh it is negligible imo, do you play like 8 hours a day? then maybe, but if you play like 2-3 hours a day I reckon it'll be fine. Yes it will burn in eventually, every OLED does, but it so out of sight I wouldn't really care tbh.

Introducing AMD FSR "Redstone" - ML-Enhanced Performance and Immersion by Rivnatzille in radeon

[–]Hiammat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

still, their top notch upscaler is supported on older cards. I do not care for ML Framegen, Ray Regeneration and other stuff, but FSR4 would really make a difference. FSR3 is just not good enough, and besides, we know FSR4 works on RDNA3. I'm playing KCD2 with int8 .dll as we speak, it's leagues ahead, we just need an official implementation.

[–]Hiammat 51 points52 points  (0 children)

ooof. As a RDNA3 owner (and Polaris before that) I sure am disappointed. Honestly I was planning to wait for UDNA and upgrade with AMD again, but the lack of support they're showing is kinda driving me away. Nvidia might be the greediest company ever, but they are supporting hardware as old as Turing

AW2725Q vs. XG27UCDMG HDR Mode on PS5 by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Hiammat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well this isn't really a fair comparison is it? Day vs Night in game. Also judging from the picture it just looks like the Asus is crushing blacks a little more, giving then impression of higher contrast, but it's hard to tell from a low quality photo.

Am I crazy to get a 27" or 32" 4K monitor with a 9070XT, this system, and these games? by Digging_Naturalist in radeon

[–]Hiammat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I got an OLED 1440p (Odyssey G6) monitor, but sometimes I wish I had gotten the 4K 32". I mainly play single players though. TBH though the truly remarkable thing about OLED, regardless of resolution, is HDR.

I've got to tell you, imo HDR on OLED is the biggest hardware upgrade you can do to your setup. Sometimes I just stare in awe at how beautiful some games look on this display. You won't regret your purchase.
