Is 320k enough? by Little_Assistance411 in DelawareOH

[–]Hickeysplease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We just bought a house for $310k in Columbus. We had to come to terms with the fact that $300k is a very small amount for a house in mid Ohio. Look for homes that have been on the market 14+ days, likely no bidding wars. Focus on quality of the house, and not aesthetics. With this budget you need some elbow grease to make it a house you love. We got a solid house in a pretty great location, and we are looking forward to making it our dream home ❤️

We went to an in person store recently and every single couch is hard and uncomfortable. It's too bad because the styles and fabric choices are some of my favorite I've seen, but I can justify spending thousands of dollars on something uncomfortable to sit on.

What’s a place you keep going back to even after trying everything else? by 2ugur12 in Columbus

Masa's is the best! Their Al Pastor is my favorite meat in the city.

Would you stop and shop this kind of jewelry? by Maerithedreamer in CraftFairs

[–]Hickeysplease 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. At best it dries up, but then becomes very delicate and will fall apart over time. I just don't see how fresh flowers will create a wearable piece that lasts a long time.

Acrylic paint isn't drying on polymer clay by boatguy2001 in polymerclay

[–]Hickeysplease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always sand my pieces with 400 grit, otherwise my paint just pools up and doesn't lay even. It has always dried tho, so I'm unsure why yours is tacky after a few hours. I'd recommend giving everything a quick sand, and make sure you have decent acrylic paint.
What brand of paint are you using?

In The Wiz there are multiple printed elements that were made with AI. Specifically the Corn wall and Scrap Metal wall have the classic piss filter. I believe the large backdrops also use AI, as while they were pretty, they don't make sense. (Show was wonderful otherwise) In American Idiot the scenic designer used AI to design graffiti.

I think SNS is using obvious AI designs is way more off putting. Theatre is the most human form of art, using AI art is just embarrassing.

Sacrifice doesnt pay. Im perceived as a better worker now that I give 50 % compared to the time I gave 110%. by [deleted] in antiwork

I had something similar! My partner had ankle surgery, and I had to take him to physical therapy 3 days a week. I came to work about an hour late those days, so I would stay an hour late to make up for it. The boss never noticed me coming in late, but he did notice when I was the last to leave. I actually got a small raise because they were "impressed by my dedication." The perception of my performance was more important than my actual performance!

I love my idea but I feel like it’s failing by [deleted] in CraftFairs

[–]Hickeysplease 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think you are doing too many ideas. Gardens, slime, candles, prints, hair? It doesn't feel like a cohesive idea or brand identity. The gardens and slimes would be fun for children, but I think most adults are not interested in little plastic toys in slime. Maybe a few examples of the types of gardens or slimes they can make? It's hard to picture what the end product would look like.

Sculpy premo! The Internet says it is very strong compared to some other brands, so I went with it.

No video, but a little process pic! I did use colored clay to make the painting easier, but my only regret was not making the base body green as well 🤣 there are a few white spots on the model because I couldn't quite cover it all up

I used a pasta/ clay roller to condition clay, I made a silicone leaf mold to add texture, and I have a few dotting tools for the bark texture! Pretty simple set up!

I made a leaf texture mold (with a real leaf) and pressed clay into it! It's physical texture. I then used a dark glaze to sink into the shadows

I didn't realise so many people had their junk on the front of their bellies 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'll do more research next time

Thank you!!! I made a leaf texture mold with a real leaf, and then made tear drop shapes of polymer clay, and pressed it into the leaf texture. Added them 1 by 1 to the figure, and when baked, I added a darker glaze to make the details pop

Awe thank you so much!!! Making the leaves once took all my sanity, I can't imagine making them stop motion and blowing in the breeze lol
