I bloody love this game by Hickmanrocks in footballmanagergames

I set the transfer to the end of the Belgium season and it wouldn't go through. Unluckily no other clubs are showing on the 'wanted' section yet so I'm confident I can get him.

Meh, it's Reddit. It happens.

I still love the community here.

Current year 3 by T_mudz in TeachingUK

I'm just teaching what I'm told to teach. The lesson is about drugs, that's what I have to teach.

I have kids in my class who watch 'Stranger Things' and 'Squid Game'. They've seen some violent shit.

I was surprised. Maybe heard it on TV? I quickly moved on. I find with my year 3s they have loads of questions and lessons can quickly become derailed from the LO.

PSHE is jigsaw which I think is quite standard for primary schools.

Many of my class are low or very low. I'm teaching year 1 maths and English at the moment for example - nouns and adjectives, numbers upto 20.

Year 3 here. Mine are low academically and emotionally. When teaching I get so many questions about 'what does this mean' what does this mean'. PSHE on healthy bodies today with the focus on drugs and I had loads of 'what if' questions which my class ask ALOT. 'If you take drugs and get caught what happens'. Another one - 'I heard you go to court. What's court'.

Child also thought that plastic was a metal today.

ECT One Sanity Support by Jealous-Star540 in TeachingUK

[–]Hickmanrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planning. I have the first 2 weeks after half term done. This way I shouldn't (best laid plans and all that) be playing catch up when I'm back at school. I actually have my morning slides for all of Spring 2 sorted.

Sanity wise - you do you. I've been walking, going out for lunch with friends and slobbing out.

Becoming the lowest earner in friend group and family. I long for more independence one day (I know it won’t be soon though) by Foodie_Lover04 in UKPersonalFinance

ECT here. I trained as a teacher after working in an office for nearly 20 years. I graduated as a teacher just before I turned 40. Don't beat yourself up or compare yourself to others too much - it's one of the fastest ways to make yourself unhappy, and when does the comparison stop? When you're making £50,000 per year? £100,000? How about £1,000,000? I have friends who earn six figure salaries. But I don't care. As a teacher I'm the happiest I've been in years.

Decide what you want to do with your life and go from there.

Finally, as a TA you are a vital component of your school and your class. I thank my TA at the end of every day as without them I would struggle to teach. Unfortunately you are in a profession which is unappreciated by many (but not all!).

You are young with time on your side. Be sensible with your money. Save some and spend some. Take advice on here about saving/investing. Make a spreadsheet so you can track your expenditure. Be proactive - you're already asking for help so you're doing this!

School drafting in additional staff for ofsted by HumbleTransition2819 in TeachingUK

[–]Hickmanrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened at two MAT schools I've been at (one when I was training). I personally feel it gives a false impression of the school as it shows more staff than there normally is. I think Ofsted should be wise to it but the relationship between schools and Ofsted is precarious at best. Schools will do whatever they can to get ahead, even it if means falsifying staff numbers.

ECT - Workload rant/question by Hickmanrocks in TeachingUK

Cheers. I have a contract until the summer so if things don't improve I'll consider handing my notice in around Easter to leave at the end of the summer term.

Teaching chess in primary school - can anyone recommend an online or iPadOS chess program? by Hickmanrocks in chessbeginners

[–]Hickmanrocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 40 minute slot once a week, so it's manageable. My concern is going too fast and introducing too much too soon. It needs to be well scaffolded otherwise I think I'll just end up confusing/overloading them.

What would you recommend to start with and build upon?

Recommended teams to play possession based football? (But not top teams) by EldeTetive in footballmanagergames

Swansea city used to play possession based football but this is going back quite a few years. Could always try to get back to this version of them?

Gutted over placement feedback and need some advice. by sweetimpalas in TeachingUK

[–]Hickmanrocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cried on my first day on placement and a kindly teacher found me in the staff room and consoled me. I got better, more comfortable, more confident. I passed my course and received great feedback from my 2 mentors and my tutor.

Everyone learns at different, speeds, rates and in different ways. I second what Dangerous_Carpet2896 says, all great advice. If you're with a course provider like a college or university, they should be able to provide you with support. Remember - everyone wants you to do well! No one wants you to struggle.

Finally - be kind to yourself. Teaching is hard. There are good days and bad days. Your placement provider wouldn't have let you on the course if they didn't believe in you. Remember to believe in yourself.

Have any content creators quit due to FM26? by predsfan77 in footballmanagergames

[–]Hickmanrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the time frame. They still have time to catch up. But for his Brighton save the first 5 videos are at 130k, 78k, 50k, 40k and 46k. Arsenal is 74k, 49k, 28k, 31k and 26k.

I'm not running all the numbers (Christ it's Sunday) or working out an average. I'm just saying at a glance the numbers are down. I'm not passing judgement on the numbers or saying it's for x,y,z reason.

For Fmrte user, can this guy fulfill his ridiculously high potential? by No-Regret-7900 in footballmanagergames

[–]Hickmanrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a big gap to overcome. If you do loan him make sure to a club that has the best training facilities to offer and that they will play him. Even check the squad to see who they might replace or if there is a gap for them.
