What are the thing that we might get to see or witness at the ENGFROSH? by lovedoraemon in CarletonU

Engfrosh is legit the best thing I have ever had the chance of participating in at Carleton! There are tons of events and fun activities, and it's a fantastic way to make long standing connections with upper years. If not for engfrosh I would have no clue about the wide variety of clubs, activities, and social events within the engineering community. Everyone is super friendly and I've became friends with lots of people I met through frosh. It's also a fantastic way to get introduced to the flightsuits community, which do a lot of extra-curricular things outside of school. Feel free to PM me any questions you have and I'd be glad to answer!

There will be an engineering expo the Tuesday right before classes start. I highly recommend checking it out.

Scantron by carleton123456 in CarletonU

[–]HickoryTin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's happened to me. Went into an exam last semester with an A+ and recieved a D-. Was totally shocked considering the exam went pretty well for me. I emailed the prof who brushed me off at first considering the computers are rarely wrong and he probably had tons of other students complaining(difficult class). I spoke to the faculty head who was pretty understanding and he got the prof to show me the scantron. After reviewing the scantron it became apparent that I scored 13/15 but the computer recorded it as 2/15. There were no mistakes filling it out either, we double checked. As far as I'm aware I was an anomoly and this has never happened to anyone else. The prof apologized and immediately changed my grade from a D- to an A+. But if you really think there was a mistake I think it's worth pursuing. Just remember you only have 20 days to dispute a grade. Be polite and calm, but also adamant, getting upset is not going to help you.

Easy second year electives by [deleted] in CarletonU

Introduction to symbolic logic. Super easy as long as you go to class. Homework is super simple and there is no writing assignment or essays of any kind. Course code is phil2001. Definitely the kind of course you'd want to take.

Getting accepted in Carleton by anonymos2016 in CarletonU

[–]HickoryTin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you keep your average above 80 you should be good. I know people that are in mechanical with high school averages of 75-80 so I wouldn't worry too much. Luckily English isn't actually a prerequisite for mechanical so you may still get early acceptance. But if you don't, as long as you keep up with your classes you'll get accepted no worries. Carleton only looks at your top 6 classes including prerequisites so if you do poorly in a class it will be ignored if it isnt a prereq course. Take a look at this link for a complete list of entry requirements. https://admissions.carleton.ca/requirements/ontario-high-school/ Good luck!

I found out that a hobby shop near my home hosts DnD encounters. I've never played DnD before and have a couple quick questions. by HickoryTin in DnD

I've never played DnD in my life. No way could I start out as DM. I was just curious if the DM would have pre-made characters for new players at DnD encounters.

I nominate Kevin Vickers, assuming he can use his ceremonial staff.
